Computing Resources

The Bagwell College of Education offers state-of-the-art facilities designed to foster interdisciplinary collaboration and research. Equipped with cutting-edge laboratory spaces and infrastructure, these facilities enable both faculty and students to engage in innovative research and resource sharing. The college’s labs are thoughtfully organized into three main categories: computer labs, research labs, and innovation labs, each providing specialized environments to support diverse academic and investigative pursuits.

The School of Instructional Technology & Innovation (SITE) Labs -

  • KH 2105 (Lab 1) with Dell Optiplex 7080's - 2.9 GHz Intel Core i7-10700 eight-core CPU, Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 630, 16GB Ram, 512gb Hard Drive.
  • KH 2101 (Lab 4) with Dell Optiplex 7000's with Intel Core i5-13500 (13th Gen), Intel UHD Graphics 770, 16GB ram and a 512GB hard drive.
  • BEB 402 (Lab 5) with  Dell 7090's - 2.5 GHz 11th Gen Intel Core i7 8-core processor, Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 750, 16GB of RAM,  and a 256gb hard drive.

Labs may be reserved once technology classes have been scheduled. The labs are only available for use by classes that are engaging in the use of technology.

The AVATAR Lab

The AVATAR Lab is a state-of-the-art laboratory in which students and faculty utilize mixed-reality technology to interact with avatars of children and adults, simulating a variety of situations and challenges teachers can encounter. The student avatars each have their unique personalities, and the scenarios have low, medium and high settings requiring varying levels of problem-solving. The lab enables education majors to receive real-time feedback from their peers and instructors as they engage with the avatars, which can be programmed to be students ranging from second grade to high school. The student avatars have abilities and personalities such as an advanced student, an introvert, a rule-follower and the class clown, and will act accordingly, depending on how the teacher is conducting class. Faculty and undergraduate students in the BCOE are also using the lab as a research resource.

The Innovation Lab

The Innovation Lab was established in Spring 2018 by the School of Instructional Technology and Innovation with a bold vision to serve as Bagwell's incubator for educational innovation. The Innovation Lab serves KSU faculty, staff, students as well as K-12 students, teachers, leaders, district personnel and other key strategic partners. The lab is helping to create a culture of innovation in the Bagwell College of Education and supports faculty, staff, students, and administrators in developing an innovator’s mindset. The Innovation Lab is also used by faculty and students as a research resource to help with the testing of innovative high-impact pedagogies. For example, faculty teaching undergraduate instructional technology courses have been conducting research in the  Lab on how to better prepare pre-service teachers for technology integration, and how to cultivate pre-service teachers' computational thinking skills using the robotics and coding tools available in the Innovation Lab. Besides the research on pre-service teachers' development, studies concerning maker education have also been developed in the Innovation Lab. As a hub of Maker Camps and making activities, the Innovation Lab serves as an ideal place and resource for research opportunities on the topics of maker education. This lab is equipped with Dell Optiplex 7000's with Intel Core i5-13500 (13th Gen), Intel UHD Graphics 770, 16GB ram and a 512GB hard drive.

The Interactive Research Methods Lab (IRML) was officially launched in November 2019, and it is located in room BEB 403 of the Bagwell College of Education. The lab offers an innovative space providing students, faculty, staff, and the public with personalized instruction and practical experience in generating exceptional research design. The IRML provides a transdisciplinary intersection that supports and promotes excellence in research learning and practice. Dedicated to advanced, inventive designs of inquiry. IRML's commitment extends to ensure that the vocabulary of the research world does not prohibit advanced research understanding. This, coupled with engaging technologies focused on user experience, creates democratic, open access to the most complex, modern research theories through simplified, targeted design. 

Interactive Research Methods Lab

The Universal Design for Learning Lab

The Universal Design for Learning Lab (UDLab) is an assistive technology model classroom located in room BEB217. The purpose of the Universal Design for Learning Lab (UDLab) is to assist the university in fulfilling its commitment to provide equal access to curriculum and instruction for diverse learners across the preschool-college-career trajectory. The UDLab blends technology with the philosophies of Universal Design for Learning, which is a scientific-based framework that guides the development of flexible learning environments that can accommodate individual learning styles. Universal Design for Learning addresses the "what, "how", and "why" of learning and facilitates curriculum content to be presented in different ways. Undergraduate students and faculty in the BCOE also use this lab as a resource for their research projects on how emerging, innovative, and assistive technologies help prepare ALL students, particularly English Learners and/or students with disabilities. This lab is equipped with Dell Optiplex 7060 with 3.4 GHz Intel Core i5-7500 Quad-Core, 8GB of 2400 MHz DDR4 RAM, Integrated Intel HD Graphics 630, 500GB Hard Drive.

Teacher Resource and Activity Corner (TRAC)

The Teacher Resource and Activity Corner (TRAC) at KSU, a comprehensive support center designed to help education students and teachers create engaging and effective classroom instruction. TRAC features a fully equipped computer lab, an extensive education library with over 30,000 resources, and a hands-on maker workroom with cutting-edge tools like 3D printers and digital die-cutting stations.

We are a service unit of the School of Instructional Technology and Innovation, in the Bagwell College of Education at Kennesaw State University. It is a collective of the most innovative certified teachers, media specialists, and administrators in and around the Atlanta metro area. With a focus on innovation coaching and implementing and integrating instructional technologies, iTeach staff work with K12 districts, schools, and teachers to advance teaching and learning in ways that would not have been possible just a few years ago.
