College students today are experiencing record rates of stress, depression, and anxiety, and are at greater risk of developing substance use disorder. Recovery-informed AOD education is the best way to create cultural changes on a college campus that improve the wellness of students. Through peer-to-peer educational models, CYAAR empowers students to challenge their own perceptions of substance use and equips them with the knowledge and resilience they need to make informed decisions and build positive coping strategies.

Workshops

Recovery Ally Training:

Recovery Ally Training is a program designed for KSU faculty, staff, and students. Participants will learn effective ways to support students who may be struggling with substances or are in recovery from substance use disorder.

Peer Education:

Our trained peer educators reach out to students at KSU and in the local community to help prevent consequences of high risk decisions relating to alcohol and other drugs.

Wise Choices

Designed to educate students in making informed choices about drugs and alcohol, this course is taught on referral from multiple sources; including Student Conduct & Academic Integrity, Department of Fraternity & Sorority Life, Housing & Residence Life, and Department of Athletics.

Cannabis Tolerance Break Guide

For people who use cannabis, a tolerance break can have multiple benefits. CYAAR would like to support you on this journey. This guide was designed to help anyone who might be thinking about taking a break from cannabis use. The T-Break Guide has short daily practices and tips for a 21-day tolerance break.

Items in a Naloxone kit

Naloxone Training

Each person who attends & completes training is provided a free Naloxone kit. At the end of this training the participants will be able to:

Identify potential warning signs of an overdose
Operate and administer Naloxone in the event of an overdose
Identify how Naloxone works
Understand the Georgia Medical Amnesty Law

Training is free for KSU students, faculty, and staff. Each person who attends and completes training is provided a free Naloxone kit.

KSU Alcohol and Other Drug Information

At Kennesaw State University, we are committed to the health and wellbeing of our entire community. We understand that for some students, college is a time of increased socialization and being faced with new and diverse choices. Through the collaborative efforts of the Wellbeing@KSU Coalition, a cross-functional team of faculty, staff, students, administrators, and community members champion educational and policy initiatives in service to the university and surrounding community.

The Office of the Dean of Students is responsible for oversight and distribution of policies related to alcohol and drugs, and for other policies and compliance standards related to alcohol and drugs. Every member and guest of the KSU community is encouraged to review these policies and documents.

Georgia Medical Amnesty Law

The Georgia 9-1-1 Medical Amnesty Law provides limited immunity from arrest, charge, and prosecution for possession of certain drugs and drug paraphernalia.
