HVAC (Cooling Only) Outage - 420 Willingham Hall
Identified - Our team is continuing to address the HVAC (cooling) outage at Willingham Hall.

Current Known Impact: 
A leak has been identified within the chilled water system located inside the mechanical room. Contractors are currently being contacted to provide assistance.

Action Requested:

Gas Leak on Marietta Campus Updates
Resolved - The new concrete sidewalk poured between Design 1 and the Engineering Lab Building will be closed for curing until January 5th to vehicle traffic.

Update - Although construction in this area has been completed, the concrete requires additional curing time. For safety, the area will remain barricaded, and vehicle access is not allowed at this time.

Update - Construction remains in progress along the sidewalk between the Engineering Lab and Design 1 Buildings, where contractors accessed the conduit for repairs. Please avoid this area, as it contains broken concrete, heavy equipment, and open trenches.

-The source of the gas leak has been identified and successfully repaired.
-All campus gas, power, and technology services have been fully restored.

Current Known Impact
Construction work is still underway in the area where contractors accessed the conduit for repairs. This is located along the sidewalk path between the Engineering Lab and Design 1 Buildings. Please avoid this area, as it contains broken concrete, heavy machinery, and deep trenches.

Timeline
Contractors will continue to work on this project through the end of the week.

Logistics
For safety, please advise patrons to use alternate routes and avoid the affected sidewalk.

Update - Current Known Impacts:
The outage will fully impact Marietta, including:
-Access to on-premises systems and services that depend on campus networking
-Wired and wireless network connectivity
-The academic and administrative buildings, except the Recreation and Wellness Center, on the Marietta Campus are currently without heat and hot water.
-The Academic Building (H) currently has no power and is closed.
-Some elevators on the Marietta Campus are temporarily out of service during this time.
-The Johnson Library is also closed.
-Big Owl Bus service remains available between both campuses.
-Students with classes on the Marietta Campus should contact their faculty or login to D2L regarding any changes to their classes during modified operations.

Resolved - We are pleased to confirm that the HVAC outage in the Music Building has been resolved. Systems have been tested and are now fully operational. All services should be restored.

The required repair parts are expected to arrive soon, and the team anticipates completing the repairs by the end of the day tomorrow, Friday, 12/5. Identified - -The heating component within the HVAC system for the Music Building is currently not operational. This does not affect MU109 Recital Hall, as it is served by a separate HVAC unit. If your area contains sensitive equipment, it is advisable to store it in the Recital Hall or an alternative location.
-The contractor has identified a significant system malfunction and is actively working to complete the necessary repairs.
-Technicians will place additional heaters in designated areas throughout the building to maintain a comfortable temperature.

Lighting Upgrade Project at 3391 Town Point

Update - Update on Town Point Lighting upgrade: The contractor has completed all light replacements. They are currently working on upgrading the control systems and expect to finish this process by the end of the day on Saturday, October 18. The programming team responsible for the controls is scheduled to be on-site in November to complete the necessary programming work.

Scheduled - Contractors begin work on July 15 in public areas on the 1st and 2nd floors from 5:00–9:00 AM to minimize disruption. Starting July 21, daytime work (7:00 AM–4:00 PM) will be scheduled with occupants. The project upgrades lighting to improve energy efficiency through LED fixtures, automation, and dimming, reducing energy use. Existing fixtures will be replaced, and new controls installed, potentially causing temporary outages and limited access. Vacating sections will expedite progress. Work will proceed from the 1st to the 5th floor, with possible weekend shifts. Project managers will coordinate and provide updates.

Gas Leak Detected at 830 Academic Building
Resolved - Power and gas have been fully restored to the Academic Building. All technology systems across the Marietta Campus are now fully operational, and campus-wide gas service has been restored. Follow‑up gas line repairs in the Academic Building are scheduled for tomorrow and are expected to be brief, weather permitting.

Update - The Academic Building (H) is still without power. All classes and activities in that building were canceled today.
All buildings on the Marietta Campus are without gas and internet.
Technology systems including Teams Calling, VPN and computer sign-ons are unavailable at this time on the Marietta Campus.
Some elevators on the Marietta Campus are temporarily out of service during this time.

Identified - We want to inform you of a gas leak that occurred at the Academic Building on the Marietta Campus this morning.

Current Known Impact and Details: 
Around 9:00 a.m., a gas leak was detected on the 2nd floor of the Academic Building.
The building has been fully evacuated by the fire department. Contractors, Environmental Health & Safety and Plant Operations are currently on site assessing the area.

Investigating - A gas leak was detected in the Academic Building on Marietta Campus. For safety, all technology systems there are shut down, affecting network, Teams Calling, VPN, and computer sign-ins. Some services in Kennesaw may also be disrupted. UITS staff are coordinating with Facilities, Public Safety, and our external providers to remedy the issue. Safety teams are monitoring conditions closely. We will provide updates as additional information becomes available and systems are restored.

Scheduled - From Friday, November 21, to Wednesday, November 26, KSU Road between Marietta Drive and Paulding Avenue, including both sidewalks, will be closed for Summit II construction. Visitor Lot A will also be closed during this period. Please follow posted detour signs and use Marietta Drive as an alternate route.
