Duo adds an extra layer of account security by requiring you to verify your identity through a second factor, such as a phone or token, in addition to your password.

Important: Duo Mobile Update Required by March 31, 2026

Starting March 31, 2026, Duo Mobile will require version 4.85 or newer. This version only works on devices running iOS 16+ or Android 11+.

Action Required: Please upgrade your device’s operating system to the latest version to ensure compatibility with the new Duo Mobile requirements.

If your device is listed as incompatible, it cannot support the required operating system version. In this case, you will need to upgrade to a newer device or contact the OIT Help Desk for alternative solutions. Note that you can use Duo Mobile on alternative devices such as an iPad, tablet, or second mobile phone.

What is Duo?

Duo is a multi-factor authentication application. It adds a second layer of protection by requiring you to verify it’s you after you login with your UCInetID and password. You use something you know (your password) plus something you have (a smartphone or device). This extra layer of protection prevents anyone but you from logging into your account, even if they know your password.

Duo + UCInetIDs

Every account that uses your UCInetID will require Duo to verify it is you. All employees and students need to be enrolled in Duo and have it set it up when logging in to any system with your UCInetID and password.
