From 1 star to 5 stars. Would recommend
Because of health issues I forgot to cancel. Haven’t used the hosting for months. Still had to pay for a one year renewal. Normally hosting services try to renew with a reminder or let it expire. Mijn.host forces you to renew unless you disable auto renew. I don’t like this practice.
Also, I can’t find any reminder email from them before they tried to renew.
Update 1: I dislike a business model that silently renews things without giving a heads-up. I asked them to remove my account under the GDPR guidelines. They only responded with their terms and conditions when I explained that I didn’t turn off renewal due to illness.
Update 2: They confirmed they don’t send renewal emails. Which I think is unfair to customers.
Update 3: A new customer representative took over and agreed that the lack of reminders wasn’t great. They said they’ll look into that. However, if I understand the law correctly, this should have been fixed years ago. Nevertheless, they refunded me within minutes even though the first email basically said “tough luck.” As promised, I’ve updated my review. I also increased the star rating from 1 to 2 stars.
Update 4: I have now received an email saying they will seriously look into adding reminder emails, as they understand my frustration. This kind of response doesn’t usually happen with larger companies. That’s why I’ve increased my review by another star – now 3 stars. It’s a pretty impressive turnaround: from 1 to 3 stars in just a couple of hours. I’ve also promised that if they do add reminder emails to their system and let me know, I’ll update to 5 stars. After all, the hosting itself is fine and runs well, and if they improve their service based on customer feedback, I believe they are worth 5 stars.
Update 5: the company has just emailed me and they discussed my suggestion to send email reminders before renewal. They agreed that this would improve the customer experience, so have decided to implement this!!! What a win! It will take a while to actually implementat it, which is understandable, but they are working on it and thats all that matters. Thanks for listening to my feedback and for taking your customers seriously. As promised, i have updated my review to 5 stars. Well done and thank you.
