I experienced the worst call ever with this bank. The lady who was supposed to help me solve my online access issues talked to me like I was a 5-yeasr old, half-laughing at me because I was a bit lost... See more

LaBanquePostale sent me a debt…
LaBanquePostale sent me a debt collection letter threatening me of closing my account. Brace Yourself, that account has been closed for 5 months!!! This shows the mess going on in that bank! and their total incompetence in keeping track of their own customer accounts status.
Banque horrible
Banque horrible, mauvais service. Il est également difficile de fermer le compte. On m'a délivré une carte à partir de laquelle il est impossible de transférer des fonds ou de payer en ligne. Nous n'avons pas regardé l'âge de pierre depuis longtemps, cela valait la peine de demander.
Terrible bank, bad service. It is also difficult to close the account. I was issued a card from which it is impossible to transfer funds or pay online. We are not living in the Stone Age for a long time, it was worth asking. Avoid this bank.
Numerous Problems Closing Account
Like many other UK residents here I've had numerous problems trying to close down my account from outside France. Finally, after one month, I received a reply asking for a RIB (it would have been helpful if this was in their information on 'how to close'), so I had to send a second 'signed-for' letter to France etc.
This bank is obsessed by codes, security, Certicode etc. however, when it comes to anything useful, they want security-free letters sent to them.
To close down your account you will need physical paper copies of passport/IDs, letter of closure from you and/or joint holders and a formal statement of RIB/International Code from your bank to transfer your monies. You cannot send a line in your letter with the RIB number – they will reject. All documents should be sent recorded delivery to their Marseille Head Office (don't waste your time sending it to your branch).
Be warned they will tell you all sorts of things, but most of it is incompetence/confusion. They insist documents can be sent via their secure website, then they say the opposite. They claim not to have received my recorded delivery letter, then volte-face discover it arrived 10 days ago; they just didn't do anything with it.
Expect this process to take 6-8 weeks or be ongoing (they don't seem to be in any hurry). I only obtained traction when I persisted with messages via their Twitter account. Camille manning that thread appears to be the only person working at La Banque Postale.
The pinacle of this fiasco is that after 8 weeks, the bank wrote me a third letter (to UK) stating that they wouldn't accept my closure as the two signatures on the account had written separate, signed letters to the bank at the same time (all enclosed in my mailing); instead they insisted they wanted the same letter but on a single, unique page with both names signed...!
To me, this was the tipping point; an absurd, pointless, inefficient, dreary system, with the expressed intention of only wasting clients' time.
Also be careful: although their app works on the phone, payment codes can only be sent to French mobiles and they don't accept international numbers, therefore you can't set up new recipients or make payments online. Really the only thing the app is good for is checking your balance (and that's not even in 'real time').

I cashed in a pension of 13000 pounds…
I cashed in a pension of 13000 pounds with Aegon in the UK. I've lived in France 18 years and have no UK bank account. Aegon sent the lump sum, and the Banque Postale sat on it for three weeks before returning it as it was apparently too large in one hit. Aegon resent it in three parts. Three weeks later......banque postale say they have no record of it. Useless customer service, useless thieving bank. When the money eventually comes through, I'm changing bank. They have ruined my wife and I's holiday back to the UK for our daughters graduation, engagement party and vist to our son and daughter in laws. I hate them with a vengeance.

Is really bad I’m waiting for card password more than 2 months usually in France they will receive password with card in a few days after received card or together with card but this is so bad I call so many times but the bank officer only say he will call back this is terrible .

Only problems and lack of basic…
Only problems and lack of basic services
- when adding a new money transfer recipient,
its not done you wait for days & still not done
you have to pickup the phone and "recall, complain...." to see it done. Happened 3 times
- notary caused an error in our home buying project's contract which lead to its invalidation in front of the law, logic no problem but since we had to cancel our loan with the bank, they took 1.2k€ while it technically is not our fault but rather the notary's fault....
- account which's contract states on paper that it has 7 K€ negative sees money widhdrawal being denied because we were short of "2€" ?!
and i can go on with small things like that that ...and of course you pay fees for those failed operations which is total non-sense
Appalling service
Appalling service. I have been trying to close my account since 7th Oct 2021, letter/email to no avail and all unanswered, my account has been unused for months and I have returned my checkbook to them. This is the quality of the FIGEAC branch, 8, Avenue Fernand Figeac 46100. They have no idea of what is considered to be of service to clients so choose another bank
I have had dealings with this bank…
I have had dealings with this bank which my bank - Barclays - state it appears to be fraudulent activity. They are supposed to transfer money on behalf of someone but they are demanding payment of 997 euros! I wrote to say I have not heard of this before but they refused to provide a sensible answer. The email I was sending to someone called Geronde Francaise - he provided an ID CARD with your bank name on it! Can you confirm that this is not genuine. I was supposed to be sent a great deal of money as the bank was acting for this person. They even produced a "Certificate of Ownership" of the money until it was sent to my country when I would then revert the ownership to the person who wanted to move to the UK. I have not sent money because I stated that I have never paid any money before in this circumstances! and needed more information which nothing was given.

My husband is French but In the UK…
My husband is French but In the UK during the pandemic. The bank cancelled his debit card which has about €3000 in it and told him it does not exist. How can they steal money and justify It!
2023 and still waiting. Been back 3 times...nothing! It is shocking!
No customer service, totalitarian bank.
Too much delay, block your account for no reason, and 2 months to get an appointment. Don't recommend the bank.
This is the worst bank ever
This is the worst bank ever. They do everything not to help their customers. They are seriously driving me mad! I have been trying to close my account for a few months, they said they require a written letter, once I wrote the letter, they told me that they needed a "rib" to close my account (while I have send them my bank details and English banks don't have "rib"). I called them, they said they can't deal with it over the phone, so I have to send an other letter. Now I haven't heard from them. Please don't use this bank.
Dont ever approach this bank for loans
I had requested for a house loan with this bank. I am lucky not to have opened an account with this bank seeing all the feedback here.
My experience with this bank was tedious. They offered a good interest rate, however the person who was handling my documents was not competent to see the credits and debits in my account even after translating all english statements into french and explaning each transaction by mail. They were asking for statement over statement every week and I lost hope. I went to another bank inbetween and the loan offer got approved in 2 weeks. These guys took more than a month requesting documents over documents. Don't ever go to this bank if you want peace of mind. I spent 350 euros translating all english bank statements in French, all for nothing.
Today
Today, once I have left la banque postale I stood on the street and screamed out loud.( I have never done it before- in my life!! ) It has been my fifth visit to the bank and every time I have been send to different branches, just to change my address. I am unable to make any transfers unless I go to my original bank office- which is at least 20 km away, although I have already went there to change my address. Do not mention that after I changed my address the bank lady spend a week calling me and asking me to come again as she lost my proof of the address. This is crazy. The staff there treats you as s**t, the nevere ending lines to the windows and most of all no mather how compose and logical you are..it is still impossible to do the basic. The worst experience in my life.
This is the most stupid bank i have…
This is the most stupid bank i have ever encountered! I can't give them negative rating otherwise i would have. Complete incompetent staff and no professional behaviour! Do not open an account there is completely useless. The client advisor is never calling you back even when i had a schedule appointment and most resently they ask me for a letter and an ID of the person that has transfer me money less than 10 000 EUR. As by the law you need a declaration for the amount exceeding 10 000 EUR. This is not mention anywhere in their general conditions. I am changing the bank asap.
