Not worth the email they send you
Not worth the email they send you. The glass in my patio door cracked through thermal expansion. Complete accident . But because someone didn't smash it , They wont cover us . Never use them again and definitely wouldn't recommend

An accessible and comprehensive service for insurance
The policy was easy to access and I was given a good choice from which to choose. An efficient, professional service which is reasonably priced. Renewal was very easy too.

Very happy knowing that I am fully covered for our current system that is fitted in our attic, should some disaster strike.
When you need help this lot are as useful as a Chocolate Fire Guard
3 days before I was due to go on holiday I had a major electrical failure in my house. I initially thought this was a result of water getting in to the property during a major storm. The mains electric board where the power enters the house blew up filling the area with acrid smoke. It left me with no power, so no heating, lighting or way of making food. I telephoned the company and spent ages with some kid in a call centre facing the equivalent of the Spanish Inquisition trying to get help. I was eventually told that a Surveyor would contact me within 7 days to assess the damage. He seemed to be quite happy to leave me there in the cold and dark to fend for myself and my family.
I set about trying to solve the problem myself. I called my local electrician who came to my aid. He examine the problem and decided that we needed to contact Scottish Power, the mains supplier. They came out and decided that the problem was due to wiring of theirs from the 1960s and a small amount of water that that had got into the building which would not have affected modern wiring. They then sent out a team to dig up my driveway and fit a new connection to the mains, finishing at 11pm at night!
In the meantime a local roofer came and made the building watertight. All work was completed by the time Scottish Power left, having also repaired my drive. My electrician came back the next day to check that the power was OK to the rest of the house. Luckily, everything was fine except for my freezer, which although it has power, decided to pack in.
The help given to a 74 year old pensioner, in an hour of need ,by this company was as much use as a chocolate fire guard! They are purely internet focused, their agents appear to have little knowledge of people's problems, especially the elderly and I have decided that although I will be out of pocket for the electrician, the roofer and the freezer and it's contents that the hassle of trying to deal with this lot far outweighs the cost. Unless you are a wizz with a computer and under 40 avoid this company the stress is not worth it.

Title: Deeply Distressing Experience Handling a Bereavement Case
I am dealing with the death of my sister and urgently needed to speak with Policy Expert to ensure her home remains insured. The way my calls were handled today has been extremely distressing.
On my first call, I was told the wait time was 65 minutes, so I selected the callback option.
I then made a second call and reached an agent who confirmed that my late sister did not have a car policy. He said he would speak to the correct department regarding her home insurance and then transfer me. Instead, after being put on hold, I suddenly found myself back in the queue hearing the same 65-minute wait message. I had effectively been dropped, not transferred.
Later, I received the callback from my first call. I explained that this was regarding my sister’s death and the urgent need to ensure her home remained insured. The agent said he would transfer me to the appropriate team. However, after a few minutes on hold, I received your “How did we do today?” survey and the call disconnected.
To have this happen while dealing with a bereavement has been deeply upsetting. Twice I was left without assistance after clearly explaining this was about my deceased sister’s home, and in both cases I was simply pushed back into the queue or disconnected. For a vulnerable-customer situation, this feels uncaring, dismissive, and completely inappropriate.
I sincerely hope Policy Expert reviews how bereavement cases are handled so that no other families experience this level of distress at an already difficult time.

Sadly just another greedy insurance company
Sadly just another greedy insurance company. We made one very modest claim on our house insurance for a water leak (the first we have ever made in eight years). Our punishment for that is our renewal price has gone from £660.32 to £1329.57. Basically, Policy Expert are attempting to cover the cost of our claim through next year’s renewals.
Policy Expert: happy to collect your premiums month after month but God forbid if you ever actually need to make a claim.
Disgusting company and I have already found an alternative for next year…. Avoid at all costs… you have been warned!

Emergency claim refused
Had a water leak, and foolishly thought to call an emergency plumber to fix the leak (before it damaged my kitchen even more), rather than my insurer. Submitted a claim the morning after, which was promptly rejected on the grounds that I had called a tradesman before contacting Policy Expert.
So the people who get compensated are those that think about claiming before damage limitation...

Immoral insurer. Increased my house insurance quote by £80 because my son is now 18.

Took out car insurance online
Took out car insurance online. All good. Then they call up whilst Im on holiday asking for all kinds of additional documents I couldn't access, so I tell them to cancel well before the policy even starts and I take out a new policy with someone else. They don't. Instead they wait until the first day of the policy and charge me a £60 cancellation fee. Have never experienced this before in 45 years of motor insurance.
