They also said they would come back to burry the line.....after 2.5 years and many many calls it still wasnt buried. I had to buy a pole saw to trim trees because the maintenance guy drove by 4 different times and said there were limbs in his way and he couldnt hook up service i actually had to negotiate that ill cut the limbs and help run the service to my house. Once we bought a house canceled their service to our rental they charged me for another month. Don't trust this company.

I wish I could give them zero stars. Worst service ever. I would rather stay without internet and phone service if they were the only service providers. I have been with them for only two months, but I've experienced so many lies and poor service than I did with Spectrum for four years. I wish my new apartment had other options for service providers, not just Optimum. I've decided to discontinued my service and stay without cable and wifi.

Been an Optimum customer for a long time but the last 3 payments have been such a headache for me.
I enrolled myself with paperless and auto payment (-$10), but they keep billing me extra each of those 3 months. They apologized left and right and then when everything seems to be squared, the next payment is up again & again and again.
Optimum has NO transparency and they will make up fees with lame excuses.
Plus, nobody has time to be put on hold for 17-23 minutes every month when a billing surge, and then the back and forth with their inept and not so professional CS representatives is just too much.
I do NOT recommend this internet provider to anyone. Go with Verizon and lock a deal with them for certain amount of money per month for 5 years contract! You won’t regret it!!!
Verizon take my money, here I come.

Let's get directly to the point these people are crooks all of the sudden they jack the bill up from $70 a month to 90 dollars a month and to be honest the service is lousy the Wi-Fi is lousy it's slow then when I talk to someone they said the said everything is going up I said book $20 more a month that's a rip off in this person that worked for them agreed I can understand $5 more month but $20 more month with no improvements in the Wi-Fi

I use fiber internet. There are frequent short interruptions. The agents are scammers. They try to rip you off with additional costs. For example, you pay for installation over the phone, but online it's free. Liars and scammers!!! Unprofessional approach to the customer. I don't recommend!!!

Rating Optimum for Business a 1 star is super generous. I have been trying to cancel my internet and landline since 11/24. They were happy to cancel the internet (which btw is unstable and SLOW) but have been holding my phone number hostage. Between myself, my colleague, and the new service provider we have spent easily 12 hours of our lives on hold or speaking with various customer service reps (I use customer SERVICE loosely) and supervisors to no avail. One FCC complaint later we are still waiting. Also, Sophia from corporate, I am still waiting for a callback with that CSR REPORT and a LSR REJECT CODE. If you value your time… DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH OPTIMUM. Time is money and you’ll lose both.

I work from home, so having internet is a necessity. Unfortunately, my experience with Optimum has been nothing short of exhausting.
Our service went down at 3:00 PM yesterday, and we were told it would be resolved by 8:41 PM. It wasn’t. The next update claimed the issue was fixed at 7:00 AM, and… it still wasn’t. After trying all the basic troubleshooting myself, I called support hoping to finally get real help.
Instead, I was walked through the exact same steps I had already tried. Then, right in the middle of an outage that had already gone on far too long, the representative tried to upsell me a mobile plan — even after I specifically asked her not to give me a sales pitch. She ignored that completely and kept going with the script.
When I asked for an escalation, the “advanced” technician also ran me through the same repetitive steps. To make matters worse, I noticed an HBO app plan had been added to my bill without my approval, on top of a $14 price increase. At that point, it just felt like shady tactics on top of bad service.
Today, I switched to Spectrum — and thankfully they had same-day installation available. The difference in responsiveness was night and day.
I had concerns about Optimum from the beginning, but they were our only option at the time. That’s no longer the case. If you have alternatives in your area, do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. Reliable service and honest billing shouldn’t be too much to ask for.

1 Star – Optimum is the worst service experience I’ve ever had
Optimum has been the absolute worst nightmare to deal with. Their customer service feels like a maze built specifically to break your spirit.
To make things even worse, they offered me a “free mobile service.” I never received a phone, never activated anything—yet they still automatically charged my card without my consent. When I tried fixing the issue, I was met with endless runarounds, scripted excuses, and zero accountability.
After reaching my limit, I attempted to cancel the service. That turned into hours of being bounced between representatives who refused to cancel, tried pushing promotions I didn’t want, and—when I declined—conveniently dropped the call, forcing me to start the entire process again.
The whole experience felt degrading, exhausting, and intentionally designed to prevent customers from leaving. I will never use Optimum again, and I strongly warn others to stay far away.

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. IVE BEEN HUNG UP ON TWICE. When I first switched from AT&T I didn’t even have service for a day before there was a 24 hour outage. Called about it, got the run around with no information, the guy said he would transfer me to billing so they could “take care of me” and hung up on me. Today I call because I am being billed twice for one month that isn’t even over yet and JOHN tells me he can’t do anything unless I pay $120. He says after I pay he’ll give me a $36 credit. WHAT DOES THAT DO FOR ME?? NOTHING. IT DOES NOT HELP OR SOLVE THE FACT THAT I HAVE TWO BILLS INSIDE OF THE FIRST MONTH. Then he puts me on hold for 30min and hangs up the call. TERRIBLY UNPROFESSIONAL AND THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM

I would provide this crooked company a negative number if I could. My organization has been attempting to port our business number to another since 24 November. Myself and my colleague have been on the phone relentlessly trying to have our number ported. We recently canceled the Internet and phone service. Optimum has canceled the internet service but refuses to port our number and is basically holding the number hostage. Multiple transfers and still an issue spoke to supervisors and no results. Do yourself a favor and do not deal with this deplorable company. We had to resort to filing a FCC complaint due to our ordeal. I truly hope this company goes the way of Enron.

I hate to start a review with the cliché " If I could give 0 stars I would" If you are reading this review trying to decide if you want to go with Optimum or another cable/internet provider grab your popcorn. I called optimum to cancel my cable/internet service. The customer service rep that answered the phone asked why I was cancelling. I replied " The price is too high, I'm going with Verizon" He replies trying to get me to stay which is expected, I stopped him mid sentence and said "thanks but Verizon already has there equipment here" The rep went on offering whatever the deal was, so I thought to myself just let him speak and decline when he's done. After 5 minutes of this I said "thank you but I already have their equipment, i'm going to give them a try." He then ask how much am I paying with them for just internet. I said "about $35" he then offers $25 I told him again, thank you but i'm good. He then rambles on for 10 more minutes. I'm still calm I told him no thanks i'm going to give verizon a fair shot. He then offers me 3 months free and $25 locked in for 5 months I again decline. I attempt to tell him I just want to cancel and he cuts me off again telling me why I need to take advantage of the offer and If I do he will waive the current bill. My current bill was a $15 late fee, just last week I paid $309.00 and that was it for me. I found his attempts funny at 1st but after 50 minutes it's time to wrap this up, I declined again he continues to tell me I have to take advantage of the offer or I will owe for equipment. I pleaded with this guy to just cancel my service. He continues to go on. I finally frustratedly say listen I've been on the phone for almost an hour I'm done. I don't want the service, he replies with " Not an hour yet ma'am we still have 13 more minutes before we reach an hour." At this point my boyfriend is yelling hang up! But that's how they get you, if you hang up before they tell you you've been cancelled your still on the hook. At this point I am beyond mad, I look at my Iphone and start recording. I tell him you are being recorded sir, don't lose your job for the holidays. He keeps going on how I should take advantage of the service, even while being recorded. I finally say listen you are giving me the service for free and I still don't want it sir, at this point I will never use optimum again. He then says we are 80% finished and that's where I lost any cool I had left. The customer service rep was unprofessional and should be fired immediately. I will be going to all social media pages trying to upload my audio!! I demand a follow-up call from the CEO at this point. This is unreal and a terrible way to retain business!!!! This incident took place over the phone not a store location!!

I have been with optimum for close to 2 years. When the Internet is working it works well. However. There are outages often. Attempting to cancel service after having short notice that your next bill is increasing by over 10 dollars is a no go. You will get sent a link from the rep to pay your final bill and that money will go...poof! Gone. Then you will be charged a return fee for the money that did not even come from your account and doesn't show on your bank statement. Asking for a manager is a no go cuz"our manages don't take calls". There is someone you can talk to but it is company policy to not tell you who that is. You must tell them you want to speak with a supervisor. Just a tip from me. When you speak to the supervisor they sound more like an intern. So good luck.

Optimum has by far THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE! It takes way too much time & frustration just to be able to get an actual PERSON on the phone! They disconnected my ACTIVE internet service bc someone else requested their service be transferred TO MY ADDRESS which is MY HOME THAT I OWN without speaking to or notifying me! And the service they disconnected mine for was INACTIVE bc they owed a bill!!! I'm a student & HAVE to have internet access for my courses & I now have incomplete assignments bc it's now been 4 days and my service STILL HAS NOT BEEN RESTORED AT NO FAULT OF MY OWN!!!! ANGRY DOESN'T BEGIN TO DESCRIBE HOW I FEEL! IT'S BEEN NOTHING BUT ONE PROBLEM AFTER ANOTHER SINCE I joined Optimum! First, the original tech did a poor job running the line so I had barely any connection til another tech eventually came & redid the line. Then, a tree fell in my backyard & knocked that line down, causing it to break the line & I had to wait for another tech to come back to fix it, and it was poorly patched together & LEFT LAYING ACROSS MY BACKYARD where it still currently hangs. Then my modem went bad & I liked to have never got a replacement. When I did get a replacement, I went to the store to pick one up & one was sent by mail. Since I have no transportation & I've made them aware of that, im being charged for the extra modem sitting in the box it was shipped in & never even opened! And NOW, I have no internet bc they allowed someone else to take over my address & disconnected my account without so much as notifying me! But best believe they still expect me to pay for the whole month of service even though I certainly haven't had a full month's service!! And can't get A PERSON ON THE PHONE LONG ENOUGH TO FIX IT!!!!!!

Forget reliable service. The connection was spotty, dropping out constantly at the worst possible times. When I called to complain about the inconsistent speed and outages, they always had some convenient "external factor" to blame. When your core product fails this often, you need a rock-solid support team to back it up. Optimum doesn't have one.
The Customer Service Catastrophe (The Real Nightmare)
The customer service experience is truly what sets this company apart for the wrong reasons. The sheer dread I felt calling them was real. I had FIVE separate, infuriating conversations with the retention department—yes, five!—which should tell you everything about how poor the service was and how unwilling they are to fix anything.
These weren't "conversations"; they were repetitive, soul-crushing arguments leading nowhere. Every single person gave me the same non-answer—a complete "no good solution"—making it a total waste of time. It became crystal clear that the people working there are either totally untrained or intentionally handcuffed, unable to solve a real problem. They just want you off the phone.
Why They Fail
My conclusion is simple: Optimum does not, and will not, invest in good customer service. The resources are clearly prioritized elsewhere, leaving paying customers like me to deal with low-quality service and low-quality support. The failure to resolve recurring issues and the absolute lack of genuine effort to keep a customer shows a systemic indifference that is truly shocking.
Final Verdict
Do yourself a massive favor: choose literally any other provider. Save yourself the headache, the wasted hours on the phone, and the sheer frustration of knowing your issues will never be genuinely addressed. My overall experience was easily the worst ever, defined by total operational failures and a staggering lack of care.

Optimum Mobile has the most pathetic customer service I’ve ever experienced. Instead of resolving issues, they play endless ping pong—passing you from one representative to another without accountability. Their online system is practically useless, forcing you to rely on this broken customer service process.
Trying to disconnect from their service and move back to another provider was next to impossible. I spent nearly 5 hours across 4 different calls, only to be deliberately kept on hold and bounced around. It felt like intentional harassment designed to wear me down rather than help me.
No customer should ever have to go through this kind of ordeal. Optimum Mobile has made it abundantly clear that they prioritize trapping customers over providing even the most basic level of support.

When I switched to Optimum mobile service, I did so because having it bundled with my internet services saved me money. In fact, it should have ended up being no cost to me.
When I decided to cancel the mobile service I called their customer service department. They said that to cancel my service I would need to pay off the balance on a phone that I had received from them. I DID NOT EVER GET A PHONE FROM THEM, NOR WAS I INFORMED THAT THAT WAS PART OF THE INITIAL PLAN THAT I SIGNED UP FOR.
I was on the phone to them for over 2 HOURS. The charge was $88.79, for a phone that I never had. They could not, I believe they WOULD NOT cancel the service without payment.
The phone was supposedly sent to me approximately 14 months ago. FedEx only keeps tracking data for the purposes of making a missing package claim for nine months. I could not make a claim. There was no way for me to even get the phone that I had to pay for to cancel my service.
This is the most ridiculous and outlandish joke of a department that is called customer service. It would be better named the HOW TO CHEAT OUR CUSTOMERS department.
If I could give negative stars I would. One for every hour of my life that was wasted by them.

I built a new home in 2022. I live in a rural area and the option for internet service providers was/is optimum. I called to set up an account and scheduled a service technician to come out and set up service in July or August of 2022.
I took off of work 3 separate times to meet the tech at this new build (I could not work while I waited due to it being a rural area and I could not even use my phone as a hot spot due to the spotty cell service). On 3 separate occasions, the technicians did not show up nor was there any communication letting me know that the tech was not going to make it. As you know, the windows for service calls are very large. So, I was waiting for hours for a technician to show up only to be continuously disappointed on 3 separate occasions.
I made a phone call to Optimum support to let them know that I hadn’t even started service yet and I was already extremely unhappy with them as a provider. This apparently did something as I had a tech actually make an appearance at the next appointment time/window.
Within the last 3 years, I have noticed my monthly bill steadily increase. I have called and had to “re-up” my discounts or ask for other promotions, etc. However, my bill has been around $115 for the last year or so for 1 gig of service. I started asking my next door neighbors the price they paid for the same service and found out that 1 neighbor locked in a “lifetime price” with them back in 2019 for 1 gig (I have no idea how that even works or what makes you eligible for that – he also didn’t share his bill, but did say it was lower than what I’m paying), another is paying $50/month for 1 gig with a $50 “internet discount” and a $15 data discount” (the customer service rep couldn’t tell me what these meant/were for), and another is paying $70/month for 1 gig. All the same service, but we’re all paying completely different prices.
I called Optimum support today to see why my bill was so much higher than my neighbors’, and the support rep couldn’t explain to me what my “internet discount” was and said that there has been an increase in cost to all big service providers which caused rates to be higher for customers. When I asked where this cost was explained on my bill, he could not tell me. He also did not tell me when this cost was implemented. He did say that the longer I’m a customer with Optimum that my bill would eventually hit the “standard rate” of the cost of service. And when I asked if Optimum rewarded customer loyalty with higher rates (as he just told me), he quickly changed the subject.
Optimum is crap. 10/10 do not recommend. I would switch in a heartbeat to AT&T or another provider if that was an option for me.
