Please be aware before taking an Ingeni…

Please be aware before taking an Ingeni services car policy on complete wheel protection and minor damage insurance. Make sure to ask Ingeni to define the terms and conditions.

On terms and conditions in the policy document, it stated "a scratched area no more than 30cm in length, 3mm in depth and that sits within no more than two (2) body panels."

However, in their reply email, this changed to "where Minor damage extends across multiple panels, the total size of the combined damaged area must also be no larger than 30cm in diameter and 3mm in depth". Suddenly, the words of "the total size" and the combined damaged area" appeared.

I will feed that back to the car dealership where I purchased my car from.

Firstly, we are sorry to see you have given us a 1 star review because of the difference in wording used to describe what is covered or not covered by the policy.

Whilst the wording is different, they are describing the same thing. We can't see that the two descriptions are contradictory.

It is always useful when people give us feedback, and your comments suggest that the difference in wording has been misunderstood and caused you some anxiety. We always want to be fully transparent and never want to cause any anxiety to our policyholders, so we will look at all the wording in our documentation and associated emails sent by the claims team, to try and remove any differences in wording.

We appreciate you leaving a review, even though it was only one star, as it has provided us with a useful insight into how our communications are perceived, and helps us improve our customer communications.

We've taken a few days to look at your claim in detail. In your specific case, looking at the photographs you have provided, I can see that there is a nasty scratch across a wing and a door panel that exceeds significantly more than the 30cm that the policy is designed to cover, and both wordings accurately describe this. In this case the claim was not valid. We appreciate this is frustrating.

Could be better

Whilst the staff were very polite I had to find my own repairer because the preferred insurance company repairers wouldn’t do it. However when I eventually found an excellent repairer the process of approval and payment was efficient

Thanks for the review. The team pride themselves on being polite and helpful.

Our policies cover the cost of repair. We do often arrange repairs ourselves to be helpful. But that is not always possible. No mobile repairers in the UK have truly national coverage. Some of their vans are dent, paint or wheel specialists. They cannot carry the amount of machinery required for every repair eventuality so can't always effect a "good as new" repair. We can always find an alternative repairer. Also, we can ask if a claimant wants to arrange their own repair as this is often more convenient for the claimant. I think the learning point for us is to make sure the alternatives are more clearly explained.

We're delighted that when you sourced your own repair we authorised and paid it efficiently.

Punctured the tyre sidewall, it was an odd size so 2 day order. I provided ingeni with photos and invoice for repair. They approved within a couple of hours and the repair went without a hitch. On completion I submitted the invoice which I was told could take upto 30 days but was in my account in 5. Had great support from Aimee throughout, so big shout for her. Never had to claim before so you never know how they will treat you but very happy with Ingeni.

Great service and very easy to deal…

Great service and very easy to deal with. After my email to them I had a phone call the next day to discuss my claim and then I was emailed the claim form to fill out.
Claim form was also easy to fill out and uploading photos was a no hassle
