Useless from start to finish...
I paid 12 Euros ,10 for the SIM and 2 for my first month in France.
Well, the SIM would not activate, despite me trying all I knew.
So,we took a 45 minute ride to the Free shop in Brive. I explained everything to the guy, who then repeated every action I had already done.He could not re- imburse me ( as I did not have my passport) and then invited me to phone their help line!!!!WHY COULDN'T HE DO IT????
I'm in the Free shop, with a Free SIM, with a Free problem and this fella is a blank!!
Absolutely useless, I have written off the 12 E, and will advertise the hopelessness of this company at any opportunity I get .
Definitely ," Not Free".
Cancellation process is unclear
Cancellation process is unclear. Even after requesting cancellation, I was still charged for two extra months. Customer service only accepts postal claims, which is very inconvenient for international users. Messenger support was clear, but overall a poor experience.
offer a 2 euro sim card as big…
offer a 2 euro sim card as big customer. The first bill is 22 euros. They allow you to automatically go over capped data without telling you and then sting you with a bill 10x the amount of the contract. This should be illegal.
Weakest mobile service in France
Weakest mobile service in France, don't make the mistake I did, let this be your sign.
They steal your money
Careful! They say they have international data, but when I tried to use them in Macedonia, they charged me 60 euros saying that I was actually in Albania (which is crazy, because not only do I have proof that I bought an Albanian SIM card to avoid this problem, but I also have proof of a bus ticket--and a text message from my Albanian service--that shows I was already in Macedonia at the time Free charged me).
Then, I tried to contact customer service. Shocker! There's no way to contact them when you're abroad. And then, when you try to discuss the problem via phone, they say you have to send a LETTER (like what the actual, in 2025?) to discuss your issue. So then, you spend more of your money to send them snail mail, just to have them write back that you should go screw yourself because they're keeping your freaking money.
And don't even try discussing the problem with someone in person--the people at their storefronts are just there to sell you stuff and will also hit you with the "just send a letter" spiel.
Lovely service. NOT!
Totally deceiving deal!
Totally deceiving deal! We bought the "summer only deal", new chip, for 2 months only, "sans engagement", ... and now we find that we have a monthly plan without consent that we are being charged automatically and can't cancel on the website.
Extremely Poor Experience with Free.fr
I am extremely disappointed with my recent experience. I was charged €45 for only 240 MB of data while roaming, even though my plan supposedly covers the EU and DOM. I didn't know the swiss is not covered. The interface does not show real-time usage and only notifies after limits are exceeded. On top of that, SEPA direct debit was not enabled, yet the system marked the payment as “paid,” making it confusing and difficult to track.
This combination of exorbitant charges, poor transparency, and a misleading interface reflects very poor service. I hope Free.fr will urgently improve its billing clarity and user experience.
VERY bad company
VERY bad company. I took a €19.99 /350gb plan for my travel around Europe and noticed they took out alot more than the contract amount.
Tried to get it sorted and all they kept saying (in french) was, you have to pay.
Never felt with such a poor company 😡
Stuck on old number
Free Mobile France...
The subscription space on the site shows an old number that has been out of use for years. This number carries the message that it is not in service. I already knew this, since I cancelled it back then. But the number still remains listed and prevents the use of my new number. Because of this, I cannot download my new eSIM. Of course, they are quick to collect the payment, but providing service is another matter. I have therefore not been able to activate the number.
Cancellation must be done by registered mail! Why can’t this simply be done by email? Putting obstacles in place just to make it harder for customers to cancel? How much more disdainful and unfriendly towards customers can you be? I am sickened by this kind of trickery.
Amazing service
Amazing service ! I enjoy the international roaming so much
They have fraudulently sold me a mobile…
They have fraudulently sold me a mobile plan although I only wanted a pay as you go as an occasional visitor. I made it clear to them but they still sold me a 'no strings attached' plan. Well, if I cancel my plan I lost my sim card they sold me as well as my number. I made my situation clear in store. Have been calling the customer service for a refund and they are unable to help. Stay away!!!!!!

I am in completed satisfaction with Free mobile. I do not rget signing up with them for my phone service. in any of their stores which seem to be in all the large cities I feel confortable walking in and getting their help. They are friendly and curtious. They know exactly what I've needed when I ask a question. I'm always introduced to someone who speaks English and this helps me a lot. The bills are very reasonable. I have access to my account and billing at any time.
My internet connection at home was…
My internet connection at home was mistakenly disconnected by you with the claimed reason of someone (not me) asked to transfer the service provider in your system. And there will be no one come to fix it until this coming Fri. Which resulted in no internet connection at my home for more than a week time. That’s totally unacceptable.
Worst Customer Experienence ever
Worst customer experience ever with this company. I never received a Sim Card and have been unable to get in touch with them, there is no email adress to customer support, only a french phone number to call giving you a lot of options in french which I dont speak. I cannot get in contact with them and keep having money deducted as it is impossible to unsubscribe the Sim Card (WHICH I DONT EVEN OWN IT WAS NEVER DELIVERED AND HAS NEVER BEEN USED). I'm still being deducted every month while trying to figure out how to cancel this. Thanks free. Please do better.
Free mobile refused to cancel my…
Free mobile refused to cancel my service for years after I switched to another operator 3 years ago! They continued deducting money from my bank account illegally AFTER cancellation for this whole time. They didn't even take into account letters I sent them by recommended post, which is against their cancellation policy and against the law. Do NOT use Free Mobile, it is such a scam and will steal your money.

Default charge for missing payment by 1 day 29.99... regular bill is 10€. Criminals
They make it near impossibkle to cancel…
They make it near impossibkle to cancel a contract. You cannot do this via yheir website. You have to telephone and navigate through a french call answering service. When you get to a human thy only speaks french and then tell you that department is closed, csll back on Monday (after they have taken another 25 euro). I think the objective is to steal from foreigners.
Stay away
As an expat in France I should have read reviews before applying for a Free mobile sim card. Long story short they have "automatically" activated my sim card and charged me without telling me (when I was told, when subscribing, that my sim card would only be activated by me). When I contacted them for explanations they said "that's in the contract, read the small print" and if I wanted to cancel my MONTHLY ROLLING contract I had to send a signed letter VIA POST to their main office in Paris...in 2025!!! Also they don't have real app, it's just a link to their user unfriendly website, where you can't check your balance or anything else and it's all in French. So my conclusion is to stay away, there are much better option for mobile providers in France, especially for Expats.

Free has good plans but charge for free services
Free has good plans.
Unfortunately it happened to me several times that I receive a message that calls while roaming inside Europe are free, then I get charged. And it is hard to reach customer service to complain and refund.
It also happened that I receive a message that data is free and then I get charged. I would prefer to stop any chargeable service and open it when I need or with an SMS as with other operators.
