Join us Thursday, September 11, 9:00 am - 10:45 pm, for Professionals with Purpose: "Unlocking Potential: A Conversation with Lisa Shore Staats" in the Social Sciences Building Room SO 1019.
Lisa Shore Staats, Vice President of Consumer and Small Business Communications, and KSU Alum, recieved her bachelor’s degree in broadcast news is from the University of Georgia; her master’s in integrated global communications is from Kennesaw State University.
She began as an intern, then reporter at Atlanta’s WAGA-TV. She and her husband, Ethan share sons Davis, Ethan Jr. and Zimm, and daughter Caroline. She loves being with her family, traveling, relaxing with a book, listening to live music, creating culinary masterpieces, gardening, and herding her four cats and dog. She’s passionate about financial literacy.

The 2025–26 365 Days of Learning & Service series begins Thursday, September 18. Join us in SO 5074 as guest speakers and university representatives reveal this year’s theme and highlight opportunities for involvement throughout the academic year.
This kickoff event introduces students to the full calendar of 365 Days of Learning & Service activities, from service projects to campus-wide traditions like the UnCANny Creations food drive and sculpture build contest. Join us for an audit that looks at the accessibility of the space, such as an elevator, a room, or a hallway. If there is a fire or flooding situation, how would people evacuate? Is there proper egress? Is there a map? Participants will be placed in groups. One person will volunteer as a “sitter,” one person will be the “pusher,” and one person will be the “notetaker.” Speakers include Steve Ingram, KSU Fire Marshal, and Laura Palmer, Professor of Technical Communication and Rhetoric - Department of Technical Communication & Interactive Design.

Making a Path by Walking: Lessons from My Career in Nonprofits
Elizabeth Elango is a professional with over 20 years of experience in international non-profits. Most recently she was CEO of Global Village Project in Decatur. She has spoken passionately about her work on platforms like BBC World, CNBC Africa, The Colbert Report and Forbes Africa. In the course of her career, she has traveled to over 70 countries across the world. She graduated from Kennesaw State University in 1997, having attended as an international student from her native Cameroon. In 2014, she was awarded the Madhuri and Jagdish N. Sheth Distinguished Alumni Award for Exceptional Humanitarian and Service Achievement.

Each year, Radow College conducts a food drive to benefit our students on the Kennsaw campus. All donations are taken to the KSU CARE pantry. Before we take the donations, volunteer teams work together to build structures called “UnCANny Creations” using the donated food items.
