We had travel plans to Norway with family, had to cancel the trip last minute due to a illness. Unive processed our request smooth and reimbursed the plane and hotel costs in less than a week since we approached, very positive experience.

I was always really happy with Unive and their services, they were always there for me and really helpful and I have been a (happy) customer for a very very long time.
But now something has happened and I just can't express my deep deep disappointment in this company.
The situation is that I have sold my house and before I buy/rent another one, I am going in a (word) trip. This means I don;t have a "normal" adres anymore for a while and my city is providing me with an adres that allows me to stay registered in the netherlands.
The rules are that as long as you are still registered, your insurer is supposed to insure you.
I have just been informed by my insurer Unive that all my insurance policies will be terminated on the date I receive the temporary registration address from the city.
This includes basic health insurance, private and business legal assistance insurance (even though I do have a Dutch business address), and travel insurance.
They only insure people with a residential address, and an address provided by the city is not where I live. They say this is stated in their terms and conditions.
And the business insurance policies will be terminated because the policy terms and conditions state that the business must be run from the Netherlands.
How can you doo this to a person??!!!

I have been paying for a Univé world coverage travel insurance for years, expecting it to help in unexpected situations while traveling. Recently, my domestic flight in Indonesia was cancelled due to a volcanic eruption (meaning something completely outside of my control). This had forced me to book an extra night at my current location and lose a night at my next destination.
When I contacted Univé, I was told that my travel insurance would not cover any of these costs, even though the policy (article 3.4.6) mentions reimbursement of extra accommodation costs due to natural disasters. After multiple calls, they maintained their position that this only applies to the trip back home. This is something very misleading, as they do not state explicitly that they *only* cover the flight from home to your vacation, and only the flight back home.
They don’t cover *anything* in between. Please be aware of this fact! Once we arrive back home the first thing we will do is cancel this insurance we paid for years for without being able to use it once….
It’s frustrating to pay for this insurance for years, only to find out that in a genuine situation caused by nature, there is no support whatsoever.

I have been waiting for more than three months for Unive B.V. to settle an accident claim, even though the police report is clear about how the accident happened and who was at fault.
Since then: Silence! Unive B.V. does not react, does not respond and, above all, does not pay. All in all, a completely dubious company!
The accident occurred in Germany and is represented there by your company's agent, DEKRA Claims Services GmbH in Aachen. The DEKRA file number is DE0425.0001.3371.6.
You can find all the relevant information there.

If I could give -10, i would.
I needed roadside assistance and I was left for more 2.5 hrs waiting and the customer support kept on lying to me that assistance was coming and in the end didn't use it because they didn't come. i stopped waiting after 2.5 hrs

They try to scam me saying my direct debit failed. After checking my account, and even calling my bank, it's clear it worked just fine - they just like to be paid twice. Jumping through hoops (because their messages comes from a "noreply" address) gets you nowhere and they start threatening with extra costs if I don't pay up.
Used to be quite happy with them before they started with this nonsense.

I really don't understand all the negative reviews at all. I have had to contact Unive numerous times over many years and always had a good experience and the latest hasn't changed that.
After yet again being hit by another car from behind, I found the customer service exemplary making the unfortunate experience of getting caught up in an incident and having to make a claim much smoother/easier.
I can't in all honesty think of a single bad experience with Unive. That's why I have been with them for so many years.

Unive is the worst insurance company I have ever had the misfortune to deal with. They try and steal your money even after the insurance has been cancelled. If there was a minus 5 star option that would be too good for them

I have sent them a letter 2 years ago that I need to cancel the insurance. I was arrested and only released from prison after 2 years. They ignored the cancelation request and in those two years in which I couldn't do anything because I was in a little cell locked up they deducted 1350 Euros from my account and I probably owe them around 2000 Euros in Inkasso debt by now.
I really need a lawyer to fix this. They can't just ignore a cancelation request and rip me off like this.

Unive's Pechhulp Binnenland policy says that a hire car is covered. 'Bij pech, zorgen wij voor een vervangende auto'. This insinuates that the car can get me home within the Netherlands. However, there is a 100km limit per day on the hire car. This information is not public, and took us until having to use the policy to find out. This is misleading advertising, as we are clearly not covered within the whole country with a hire car.

I wish I could give negative stars. The customer service is impossible - nobody knows the correct process, or how to solve a problem - they only know that it's 'not my job'. The result is that you get sent from one department to another, hours on the phone, with no result. Literally impossible. It doesn't matter if they're cheap, if you can't even get them to help you.
Update (because I can't reply to Unive below):
There always seems to be someone who does want to solve the problem on Trustpilot... where are they when I call Unive? Must be a different department.

I picked Unive because it was supposed to have great costumer service but that couldn't be farther from the truth! I have called over 10 times to get a refund for a mistake which I provided proof for. Multiple employees have said I should get a refund but I never got one so I called again and was told my a different employee I was actually not getting a refund but couldn't tell me why. Each time I called after that I got a different reason for why the refund could not be completed. When I was given a reason and pushed against it they could not explain themselves. Meanwhile, the process of sending the proof took forever, no one knew where I should send it I never got confirmation that they got my email or that the refund was initially accepted and then canceled. Then earlier this month I get a random email saying they are canceling part of my insurance because I never paid! I got no warning what so ever, I have paid on time every time accept for the first payment in which the refund was supposed to be issued. Apparently they are two different services that do not talk to each other. I didn't even realize when I paid the one bill it didn't go to the other service as well and I got zero emails reminding me or warning me of this missed payment just that they were canceling my insurance and charging me an insane fee for missing the payment. I have cried so many times over how frustrating this all is, avoid at all costs!!! Especially if you are an international!!

It took them almost a year to look into the system and do some effort to find my non claim bonuses, lazy well paid staff who talk down to customers, go to any insurance comparacent machine to find a better insurer

They deactivated online cancelation , it looks like the website has an issue. I was trying to call them for several time in a month they are not reachable even they take the phone they hang up. No answer on emails. Terrible customer service. I cancelled everything and went to another provider.

Terrible service.
The people on the phone were rude, unhelpful and willing to help.
Terrible service in the call for legal advice. The person on the phone didn't speak english well. The person on the phone sounded rude and aggressive in their words and tone of voice. The person seemed irritated that I didn't speak dutch. The person on the phone was irritated when I asked them to transfer me to someone else that speak english better. The person refused to transfer me to someone else and told me to call again when I was waiting for someone to pick up the call for almost 20 minutes. The person on the phone was rude and unhelpful and didn't provide any guidance for the problem I presented to them. They refused to help me at all.
I reported this poor experience to Univé and their answer was equally terrible.
They told me in their email answer that "they tried to speak English as a courtesy" and that I should hire a translator to talk to them for me. This is a form of structural racism that by not speaking dutch, an insurance company neglects to give me access to their legal advice that I'm paying for.

My past experience of pet insurance was make the claim, send a copy of the charges and within 24 hours, claim is taken care of.
Unive is obviously different....
I made my first claim which is not a large amount. They asked for a copy of the dogs patient card from the vet. We contacted the vet and within 10 minutes, unive had what they asked for.
A week later, still not dealt with so I went to the office in Kampen. The only positive note is that the lady spoke to me in English when I asked if she could. In saying that, they're happy to accept money from non Dutch speakers so language should also not be an issue
She checked my address and asked if it was car insurance. I don't have car insurance with unive!
She found the claim and said it is being handled. I asked how long and her reply was...
3 weeks, 4 days or 2 weeks. It depends how many claims they have to deal with.
I said I wasn't happy and maybe should look for alternative insurance and she laughed loudly.
That is just rude .
Unive obviously have no respect for customers and are slow and inefficient.
When I first got pet insurance they called and tried to talk me into changing all my insurances to them. I am so happy that I didn't!
Needless to say, I will be looking for a new pet insurance.

Really bad insurance.
I got it after I had an issue in my house. I understand they will not help when I had the issue and then i got the insurance. But 3 years later I have the same issue happening and they also dont cover it even the event is 3 years after i got the insurance. I paid them for absolutely nothing! Im stopping with them.

Do not pick this company!
Here's how they operate:
1. They raise parices yearly.
2. They remove benefints that you explicitly chose to pay extra for.
3. You still pay extra - even though you lost the allowance you paid extra for.
4. They inform you about such changes by sending a 21 page pdf written in cryptic legal terminologi policy language.
5. They ignore customer serviec inquries.
6. This is general... you cannot change insurance company whenever you want, only once per year 31st December. This puts them in an incredible powerful postion to screw you over for an entire year, should you fail to realize that they changed your policy, and that the price is now far from competitive. This company puts an honor in taking advantage of this privilege - they do NOT work in YOUR intrest.
This basically means that every single citizen has to review and understand the massive policy every single year to make sure they are covered according to their need and are paying a reasonable price for that coverage. I thought there were EU laws in place to protect consumers against this kind of screwtiny.
