We booked an Australia trip with Journaway in March 2025 and the experience was deeply disappointing. During our journey we found out at the airport in China that Cyclone Alfred was heading straight for Brisbane, which was exactly where our trip would begin. We did not hear this from Journaway, but from other travellers. Journaway provided no warning, no update and no advice, even though this was a potentially dangerous situation.
When we arrived, we discovered that we had to pick up our camper a day earlier because everything would close the next day for evacuation. This was never communicated to us. After several attempts to reach Journaway we were only told that they would “check it” and then we never heard anything again. No follow up, no support, no guidance.
Later in Hervey Bay we almost got caught in a flash flood. Our camper was damaged by the cyclone and once again we were completely on our own. The itinerary provided beforehand turned out to be useless because several national parks were closed due to the storm. We spent the entire trip under high stress and often felt unsafe.
What shocked us most was the complete lack of care, responsibility and communication, especially considering that a service available at any time of the day was promised before the trip. In reality, none of that support existed and we felt entirely abandoned.
Site easy to navigate and itinerary makes planning holiday that much simpler

We’d never used Journaway before, but will definitely do so again! We booked the 14-day Azores trip and absolutely everything went completely to plan. Flights - check. Hotels- check. Cars - check. Excursions - check. Suggested itinerary - check! And in our view the whole thing was really good value for money. I’m already checking out breaks for New Year and spring 2026!

Overall, the company is legit, the communication is fast and rather seamless.
We bought a ‚2for1’ trip to Japan, all the bookings were correct and we had no issues during the trip. We didn’t buy any extra add on attractions and instead planned everything by ourselves.
The reason why I give 3 stars is:
1. We were provided with metro/tourist passes for public transit for Kyoto and Tokyo, but nothing for Osaka where we spent the longest time
2. The metro pass in Tokyo was not exactly practical as our hotel was nowhere near to a metro station and we ended up taking the JR train and having to pay for commuting regardless. Then we had to bend over and backwards to create itineraries to use only the metro, otherwise we’d have to pay extra.
3. The flights that were chosen for us were leaving from our country at 20:00 and coming back from Tokyo to home at 9:00. So we basically lost 2 whole days that way.
4. This one is the most important one: the trip was nothing (absolutely nothing) that I couldn’t have done myself. The only reason why I booked with Journaway was because of the alleged 2for1 promo. When booking I knew that it’s a marketing tactic and it’s not going to be a true 2for1 value. I thought instead of saving €2200, we’re probably saving about €1000. Right… So after booking I went to check prices for the exact same flights, hotels, tourist passes etc. for the exact same dates for 2 people - the total came up to €2800.
I paid €2200 to Journaway, so the trip cost should have been €4400, not €2800. Not really that much of a 2for1, is it? It left a very bitter taste in my mouth.
To make the matters worse, there were other flights available with a different carrier that not only cost less (so total would have been €2400), but also would have given us more time i.e. leaving home early in the morning and flight back from Japan in the evening.
So yeah, if you’re looking for some peace of mind and are not wanting to take the burden of planning yourself, you can go with Journaway and I think you’ll be happy. But don’t fall for the 2for1 promos or any other ‚amazing deals’ they are promising cause it’s simply not true.

We had a great time. Azores are beautiful, the three islands that are included in the trip show the beauty of the Azores well. Beautiful 4 start hotels in great locations, all but one had free parking included. We spend 3 days on each island, which suited us well.
Communication with Journaway worked well as always (this is my second trip with them), they are very responsive and super helpful. We had a tiny issue with one of the car rentals, which they reacted to quickly and solved well. Overall a very well organised trip that I can highly recommend.
Last point more of an FYI, roads on the Azores can be steep, so an experienced driver will feel more comfortable. And... the car rentals don't have automatic cars, so clutch it is :)

We’d been meaning to visit Japan for years and this was a great way to do it without needing to plan every detail ourselves. The route gave us time in big cities like Tokyo and Osaka, plus quieter moments in places like Takayama and Hakone. Having the train travel set up ahead of time made everything run smoothly.
Highlights included an overnight stay in a traditional inn with an onsen, and watching locals go about their routines in small towns. The balance of independence and structure was well judged. If you want to see a broad mix of modern and traditional Japan in just under two weeks, this is a very good option.

A very well-organised trip from start to finish. The itinerary was packed with variety: we went from city life in Johannesburg to safari drives in Kruger, through the Garden Route, and ended in Cape Town. Everything slotted into place without too much thinking on our part.
Kruger was the highlight for us. Staying in the lodge just outside the park meant we had proper comfort but still felt immersed in the landscape. The self-drive element worked well, and we had close sightings of elephants, lions, and giraffes. The glamping sites were better than expected, with a lot of character and good facilities.
Driving the Garden Route was straightforward, and the suggested stops like Oudtshoorn and Wilderness made the longer stretches feel manageable. Cape Town was a great finish: Table Mountain, penguins at Boulders Beach, and just enough time to relax before heading home. Ideal for travellers who want a lot of variety without having to over-plan.

Well balanced itinerary with lively and quieter spots. Some beautiful beaches and decent snorkelling too. Ferries were on time and the accommodation varied in style but always clean and near the water. Particularly liked Koh Lanta — less busy and very laid back.

Good combination of structured travel and independent time. Starting in Hanoi, we eased into the trip with the right balance of culture and food. The Halong Bay cruise was very peaceful and well organised.
Hue and Hoi An broke up the journey nicely and gave a broader view of the country. Each place had its own feel, and the trip allowed time to just wander. There were some early starts and longer transfers, but that’s to be expected when covering this much ground.
Great, modern user friendly website and booking experience.
Ho Chi Minh City at the end gave us the contrast of modern Vietnam. Accommodation quality held up well throughout, and the internal flights and transfers were smooth. Great value for what you see in ten days. Would recommend for anyone wanting to explore Vietnam from top to bottom without the stress of organising every detail.

Tanzania & Zanzibar - We booked this to combine adventure and downtime, and it delivered exactly that. The safari portion exceeded expectations. Our guide was knowledgeable and we saw lions, elephants, even a cheetah. The accommodation near the parks was simple but comfortable.
The transition to Zanzibar was seamless. We started in Stone Town, then moved to the beach for proper rest. The accommodation there was relaxed and right by the sea.
It’s not the cheapest trip, but it felt worth it for the quality of experience. Having everything arranged took a lot of stress out of the safari part. A very memorable holiday with a good mix of pace and setting.

Great way to see Costa Rica, well planned and hassle free
We really enjoyed this trip. The itinerary gave us a good mix of Costa Rica’s highlights without feeling too rushed. Starting in San José, we made our way to La Fortuna, which was a real standout. The volcano views, hot springs and waterfalls were all impressive, and the area felt easy to explore with the hire car.
Tamarindo was a nice contrast to the jungle, with good beaches, a relaxed atmosphere and plenty of places to eat and wander. We also appreciated the suggested stops along the way, like Playa Conchal and Lake Arenal, which helped break up the journey and added some unexpected highlights.
The trip felt well structured and the accommodation choices were solid throughout. A very straightforward way to see a lot of what Costa Rica has to offer without having to overthink the planning. Would happily book with Journaway again.

Really impressed with how smooth everything was from start to finish. The itinerary covered a lot—Kruger, the Garden Route, and Cape Town—without feeling rushed. Accommodation was comfortable and well located, especially the safari lodge and glamping sites.
Having the car and internal flights sorted made the logistics easy. Journaway’s support team was responsive when we had questions, and the whole trip felt well thought through. A great way to experience South Africa without the usual planning stress. Would definitely use them again.

As first time travelers in Asia, Journaway made it so easy to book a trip and not worry about flight tickets or places to stay. They also included some amazing tours to our trip and offered upgrading options not only for the hotel but also for the tours that we could join. Since booking the trip they were very responsive and always available to answer our questions via email or WhatsApp. It was amazing how they always found a quick solution when we were not satisfied with something. Their support continues even after starting the trip, which makes being a new continent way more easier. Would totally book again via Journaway!
