I’ve had 5 great years with my xc60 t8 inscription pro. It is a beautiful car almost Bentley like interior and drives a dream. Nothing has gone wrong except the hybrid system which has been very unreliable and inefficient. Begs the question for anyone considering stumping up the substantial extra cash for a t8 variant - is it worth it? In my experience definitely not. In 2021 the car refused to take a charge it was repaired under warranty took (4 months for the part to arrive). 3 months ago the same thing car would not charge. £150 diagnostic to tell me the onboard charging unit and a few fuses needed replaced £1800. I asked if this was the issue that happened in 2021 and was told it related to different parts. Really, how many components are there between the plug and the battery? Volvo’s advice a very unsympathetic drive it on petrol. Kind of defeats the purpose of hybrid, robs you of 80 horsepower and the engine only returns very low 20’s mpg.
The hybrid back in 2019 was marketed as returning 25 miles on a charge. In practice from the outset I never got more than 22 and before it imploded was more like 18/19.
So my car has gone through the charging components it was supplied with, the 2021 replacements and now needs another £2000 intervention.
So, for me at least the T8 cost over £6000 more than the petrol only car, never returned the expected miles per charge and the charging components have failed and need replaced 3 times in just over 5 years and at the price quoted isn’t economical to repair. Would I do it again might do because when it worked it worked really well. I think Volvo could have acknowledged the failure of the hybrid system more responsibly but there you go. If you are thinking about shelling out over £65k for one maybe my real life experience will help you do so with your eyes open and with knowledge of the potential weaknesses.

Brendan sorted the car repair work in an efficient and professional manner.
I have just purchased a car in approved used card in Mercedes Benz Belfast. I was genuinely pleased by my purchase experience! The sales personnel looked after me extremely well and made the purchase experience smooth and professional at all times,
Everything went smoothly- I was looked after well and kept informed of time line what was being done what needed done and arrangements suitable for a return appointment to have additional work carried out. I received a very informative video showing exactly what was wrong and what was needed.

I was seen as soon as I arrived, gave the details of the car i was looking for and was shown options straight away. After picking the car I wanted the sales man helped me with every step of purchasing the car. I was made to feel welcome and was very satisfied with the service. Sam showed me how to set up the car to get everything i wanted out of it, adjusting the seats, setting up music driving modes etc.

7th October 2025 Quick Diagnosis!!
Arrived at 9.30 early for my appointment. David came and took details of my problem with Tegan. Came back shortly with the diagnosis and said he had the part in and it wouldn’t be long until it was fitted. He explained all to me and I was on my way home around 12.15 a happy lady with car fixed. Staff very friendly and helpful. Was impressed with all matters and looking forward to my Service in January. Irene
