Horrible horrible service! The agents were unprofessional, disrespectful. I sent the money on Friday and the agreement that 3-4 business days which was Tuesday I should had received the reference numbers. I called since I did not receive it. The agent told me to wait still the end of Tuesday or latest in Wednesday. I called again in Thursday and they told me that it’s not ready for reference numbers. And told me to call after 6pm since it passed the 4th day. I called back and another agent told me to waited still the end of Thursday or the end of Friday to get the numbers! So this is a waiting game. I was mad and asked what other options and what if the references numbers won’t be available after Friday? They said that I can cancel the service and lost your sending fee! What? For real? When moneygram messed the service off, the customer will only lost their service fee? How convenient! I would definitely sue the hell out of moneygram for being cheated their clients into their game. case number 40669803

Avoid MoneyGram at all costs!
I verified my identity, submitted my passport, and followed all the limits and policies. After one successful transfer, my account was suddenly disabled without any reason or warning. Their support is absolutely useless — no explanation, no transaction details, nothing but generic responses. This is by far the worst experience I’ve had with a financial service.

My parents decide to gift me 1500 gbp at the counter the lady from money gram said that you can't send all amount in one go needs to be split in 2 and they charge a fee for both transaction what a scam !!!not talking about very bad costumer service they keep coming with excuses I raseid a complaint hope that is going be justice !

I had a relative send me money abroad a few days ago for a cash pick up, and I've never been so frustrated in all my life. Trying to find a location for a cash pick up is almost impossible, either the locations are closed or they no longer offer that service anymore even when the moneygram website says they do. If anyone thinks about using MoneyGram please don't as you will be wasting a lot of your time, try western union instead as most places seem to be using them more.

Horrible service, they are not able to complete transactions.
I did a transaction with them for about 1000€ and it told me the transaction is completed and the money is ready to pickup. After the receiver went all the way to the bank to pick up the money just to hear that there is no such reference number available for pick up, I had to call their customer service to see what is the issue, and they told me to send them more documents, which I had already sent with the initial payment.
Also there is no personal information processing guidelines so I am not too sure about security of the information sent to them. They said it will be processed in 48 hours, but now we are at 8 days past the original transaction and they REFUSE to comment or even refund the money, just saying I need to wait another 2 days, any time I call them.
I will be pursuing this in the court of law.
UPDATE :
I clearly requested a refund in my writings, but after 8 days of delay they emailed me that the transaction has went through, which is completely illegal based on international law.

I transferred a small amount of money to my brother in Syria. After a few days MoneyGram stopped their service in Syria. The bank in Syria was unable to hand in the money to my brother because MoneyGram system has stopped working and is not allowing them to process the payment. Having spoken to customer services, they refunded me only the transaction but NOT the fee of £4.99. I spent more than 30 minutes on the phone speaking to different staff members in different departments and yet this refund has not been made. They said they need to approve it first l. How bizarre MoneyGram are unable to provide the intended service but they changed me for their service and took a long time from me on the phone negotiating the refund of their fee

My first and last experience with Moneygram. After creating a profile and filling out all details for my first transfer, receiving clearance from my bank(!), my profile was blocked. The customer service did not give a reason for the blocking and told me to visit a MoneyGram agency would mean 1 hour of driving. Tried to log on again to REMOVE my profile did not work. Back to Western Union again....

The absolute worse. Do not use this service. They promise to be fast but it took over 6 hours to fix a cancelled account only to have issues again when trying to send money. They don't accept all documents their system doesn't recognize all documents. I will go back to using good old trusty WESTERN UNION!

Want to send the money to Pakistan. Rate was quoted Rs.394 but when go to the final stage of sending the money, the rate drop to the Rs.386 that is a scam.
Anyway I go ahead and still send the money.
After I receive the email that they need extra information.
when call them, they need the Receiver's Father name and Grand Father's name as well.
They want to know the whole family history.
So cancel the transaction.
They are big scam.

Stay away from Moneygram at any cost. They have a breached platform, horrible customer service and take no responsibility. Someone made three transfers $1500 each from my bank account using my Moneygram credentials. I never received any two factors authentication and yet they authorized the transactions. Now they tell me there is nothing I can do.

An account was created under my details. Two transactions were made. I reported these the moneygram. I was told the money can't be returned, and the account used has been closed due to moneygram was unable to verify the account. They should not have made the transfer if the account could not be verified. I have been left to report to the police and action fraud to try to get the transferred money back as MoneyGram is not interested in reviewing their security and helping on the fraud they allow.

Don’t use them. They are the worse ever. Entering the receiver occupation wrong will end up your account getting blocked.
And they don’t even bother to review your account or send an email back to tell you of the outcome.

I had a terrible experience with MoneyGram. My account was suddenly blocked right after I filed a dispute for a failed transaction. Instead of helping me resolve the issue, they treated me like the problem. There was no proper explanation, no clear communication, and no resolution—just a locked account and frustration.
It’s unfair that a customer who simply wants their money back for a failed transfer ends up punished. Customer support was unhelpful and dismissive. I trusted MoneyGram with my hard-earned money, and they completely let me down.
I would not recommend using MoneyGram—there are plenty of other transfer services that actually value their customers and handle issues responsibly.
