Beware of explained rent increases
Beware. I have rented a unit at a contracted price or so I thought. In the six months that I have been renting the space monthly rent increased from $101, $145, and now $194. Of course I cannot get anyone on the phone to explain the increase. STAY AWAY.
The owner is a conman
The owner is a conman. After rent going up from $126 to $176 for me a 10’x20’ unit I complained and finally dropped it to $156 and not everyone has rates increased. Just some of the lucky chosen.
So unexpected rate increases after you get all your stuff in the unit. I know you don’t wanna just have to move everything back out.
But recently, I was inside after hours after 9 PM it closes. I opened the control panel and let myself out well I was told I had to vacate. I said OK that’s fine. I didn’t turn nothing up. I wasn’t in there stealing or anything like that I was just all I did was let myself out so OK it’s fine. I told him that’s fine. I will leave well. They took my money for the month and they told me I need to leave in three days while the front desk girl who was very helpful we will be talking and she said it was OK that I stayed Long enough to get my stuff out so at the end of the month came I got everything out and I was out on sept 1st I am he tried to charge me $141 or he is charging me $141 for the whole month. So I have to pay for a whole month of a place. I’m not even allowed to be at when I was out on the first of the month. My unit was clean. There was no damage to it. I took care of everything but still being charged $141
Great service from Kunle and Public Storage overall
Very quick to get through on the phone - both as a new customer and as a returning customer. I got immediate, honest and genuinely helpful assistance - including getting the best deal for my specific needs.
In person, at the 36 QE Blvd Etobicoke branch, we got great service from Kunle. He was helpful, friendly, also very clear about the contract, how to access our stuff. He helped us move things, and remembered me later when I called for a query. Five stars!
Great Property Manager
The property manager keeps the facility clean and safe. She recommended at great size unit for our family. I would definitely tell my friends and family. We appreciate the professional customer service.
Overbilling
They bill once when you sign up and then again on the 1st of the month, with no explanation.
almost impossible to get someone on the phone.
I was quoted $85 per month and then they sneak in a required $20 insurance fee that is hidden in the signed contract.
The gate access was ridiculous when moving in. They kept locking my movers out.
Very nice person…
I have been with public storage since 2013, when I met Holly she was the nicest person and never changed. She is very helpful, when I had any problems she would resolve it if she could. They should have more employees like Holly. Thank you Holly

This place is an absolute
This place is an absolute ____.they get people in at a cheap rates then shortly after rase the rent dramatically.they know that it's a lot of work to Unpack a unit. They rely on the fact that you will probably just pay it. A year ago they told me my rent was due. and charged me a late fee, and cut my lock and put there lock on it. So illegal.I was paying automatically n had to bring bank statement to show them. They apologized and bought me a new lock.woo hoo! They went into my unit n took things I have dug through everything n cannot find missing jewelry and coins.i beleave they seen me looking at my things in the camera and had to have them. I would go to police but I don't have recipes and beleave that would be fruitless. Now they are telling me I'm late again. Its still being taken out automatically I have statements to prove it. I'll find out tomorrow if they cut my lock and put there's on again. Save yourself the trouble of moving out.just don't move in. I am paying like $106 and they just bumped it another like $35 $40 they know I don't want to move out in this heat n I'd have to hire a helper and a truck. I wished they didn't buy it from the original owner. They keep raising the rent. I've been there since it was first open.
LOOKING FOR A REASONABLE PLACE THAT IS…
LOOKING FOR A REASONABLE PLACE THAT IS SECURE FOR MY EXPENSIVE ITEMS AND THE HAVE THE PERFECT SIZE AND THE MOST REASONABLE PRICE. THE CUSTOMER SERIVCE WAS EXCELLENT AND I FELT LIKE THE REPRESENTIVE WAS KNOWLKEGE ABOUT THE UNIT AND THAT GAVE ME A PIECE OF MIND . I FORGOT THE REP'S NAME BUT I DID GET THE STORE NUMBER 25862. I ADVISE EVRYONE TO CHECK THEM OUT
BEWARE!
BEWARE!! Artificially low rates to hook you in. They increased my rate over 50% after only 4 months. Corporate customer service was rude when I called to discuss it.
Public Storage in Colorado is a huge…
Public Storage in Colorado is a huge rip-off in my experience. I have two units in Loveland and I’m paying $300+ more per month per unit than someone moving in today for the same unit types.
DO NOT RENT FROM PUBLIC STORAGE. Look at the Facebook threads calling out this practice — they keep citing “market comp price adjustments.” Feel free to join the countless Facebook Pages/Groups dedicated to this horrible excuse for a company.
Everyone from Public Storage has lied to me about how they operate, and how they price people.
Their call center told me rate increases happen “maybe once a year.” I’ve lost count of how many I’ve received this year alone, including last month.
Public Storage — are you going to fix this (match existing customers to your public rate for the same units) or keep operating this way?
Office personal complain
The company that I work, rented a storage unit at Houston Public Storage (11900 Katy Fwy, Houston, TX 77079). After several visits, finally on Wednesday the 27th,
Mr. Jose and Mr. Michael called me and informed me that I was authorized to enter the storage unit and that I just needed to bring an ID for them to give me the gate code.
On Friday the 29th, I went to the office to present my ID and get the gate code. In this occasion, neither Jose or Michael was there. I was attended to by Ms. Demi Dalcour,
who searched the system and told me that I was not authorized to enter. I explained her the situation several times. I asked her to look carefully in the system to see if my name was there.
I also I asked her to call Jose or Michael, so they could explain how to use the system and find me. Ms. Dalcour simply called the District Manager and told him that I was not authorized.
The District Manager, instead of helping and listen to me or explain to Ms. Dalcour how to search for my name in the system, just kept repeating, "If you are not authorized, you cannot enter."
He did not help me. I am sure this is not the policy of such an important company to how handle clients. These two people should receive training on how to resolve customer issues, especially the District Manager. And Ms. Dalcour, a full course on customer service and how to use the system. I hope this situation will be corrected and doesn't happen to any other customers.
I'm available for further information.
On Saturday September 30th I went to the office and Mr. Michael solved my situation.
I want to take this opportunity to thank Michael and Jose for their excellent services.

Heather at the Murphy, TX location was excellent and followed up with me.

Julie was very knowledge and explained everything. In 25 years of military service. She gave me the best customer service and made sure before I walked out the office everything was done correctly. I appreciate greeting when you walk and I will recommend former veterans if they want to store or have any questions on storage contact her first.
Price gouging and lack of pest control
They bought out the previous owner in Marysville Ohio, then proceeded to increase prices from 140 to 190, and now 245…75% increase in six months!!! Unbelievable! If you google them, they have a history of this practice. The better business bureau should get involved. They seem to also be spraying less, as there is more evidence of spiders and such vs the previous owners time.
Seeking Others Affected by Mice infestation 1223 East New York Avenue
Seeking Others Affected by Mice Infestation, property damage, etc. stored my clothing and other belongings at this East NY facility for 18 months and only discovered a severe mice infestation around month 17, when I went to swap out seasonal items. Long term storage between decluttering and selling a property and renovating a new one. I spent six days cleaning boxes, removing mice feces, baby mice remains, and live mice from my unit. The company refused to clean the carpets or compensate me for lost work.
Some tenants reported skin reactions from chemicals used at the facility for pest control. The company paid for moving some tenants but denied compensation to others. Many either were denied compensation by OrangeCo Insurance, decided not to file because of the vermin clause, or gave up due to the extensive documentation required.
I’ve filed a small claims case, but my losses total nearly $10,000. If you’ve had similar experiences — property damage, infestations, or health issues — find me on facebook groups.

Professional Organizer’s Warning: Devastating Rodent Infestation — Do Not Rent Here
As a professional organizer, I take every precaution to protect my clients’ belongings. I stored items in sealed containers, wrapped in clear protective film, and still suffered catastrophic damage. Rats urinated on the wrapping, chewed through appliance wires, and destroyed furniture. I lost nearly $10,000 in property—including a washer and dryer—because this facility is infested and structurally compromised.
When I opened my unit, I found two large dead rats, the stench of feces, and visible contamination throughout. The foundation is unsealed, and the building was clearly thrown up quickly without proper pest control. The insurance they offer? It doesn’t cover rodent damage. I received only $250 for thousands in losses.
They moved me to another unit near the elevator, farther from the exterior wall—but even there, rat feces were present. At night, you could hear them running through the units. I had no choice but to move out. The staff offered no meaningful assistance, just a quick relocation and silence.
Please—don’t put down a deposit. Don’t fall for the snacks in the lobby or the polished sales pitch. Walk the facility yourself. Smell the air. Look down. Look up. This place is a health hazard, and the city needs to intervene.
Go to U-Haul or any reputable alternative. This facility is a rat trap—literally.
The Public Storage on College Park is a…
The Public Storage on College Park is a great place. Erica keeps the premises clean and she is always willing to help and answer any questions!
Reviewing my Experience a I close out my storage unit.
Public Storage has excellent facilities, lots of options on the size of the Unit, and it is very easy to get in and out of the facility as well as to get your stuff in and out (big garage style doors, carts, large elevators).
One more thing that was excellent was the manager Jenn. She was very helpful, courteous, and a pleasure to work with.
The reason the score is not higher relates primarily to Public Storage's pricing which is somewhat expensive to begin with but then rises significantly approximately every 3 months. The pricing becomes outrageously expensive for the benefit it provided. I certainly would have kept my unit for longer if the rent hadn't gone up so much.
My experience was fine until I came…
My experience was fine until I came across a rude employee who works at Public Storage located on 2700 Shaver Road, Pasadena Tx. She was rude and disrespectful to customers on Saturday 8/16/2025 @ 10:30am. I will not recommend anyone to Public Storage if an employee do not have good customer service. She do not listen and try to talk over a person and informing me she is not a child. I did not ask her if she is a child and she hung up in my face. I ask her to listen to what I had to say but she keep running her mouth like she do speed. By her contacting me to inform me of the procedures and policies she could have address me with patience and understanding. Been with Public Storage since 01/2023 and made my payments on time religiously and never been mistreated until this day. Training is need for that employee for customer services. I never been so insulted from her rudeness toward me. When it comes to respect and patience she is a zero not a hero for this company.
What a bunch of criminals!!
What a bunch of criminals!!! There are constant rate increases till you can’t believe how much you are paying for storage!! I moved out on 5/28… nothing was in the space. I had a neighbor get the lock on 6/1. Since there was a record of my number being used, was charged the FULL amount for that 1 day!! Do not use this company… go local if you can!! Will get much better service!! Once again, criminals!!
