Absolutely Appalling

Absolutely Appalling – A Scam Disguised as a Holiday! Avoid RSD Travel at All Costs
This was, without a doubt, the worst holiday experience of our lives – and we're speaking on behalf of more than 100 people in our group. RSD Travel should not be allowed to operate. Their deceptive, disrespectful, and discriminatory practices are utterly unacceptable, and what we experienced during our 15-day holiday to Turkey and Rhodes was closer to fraud than tourism.
Here's a breakdown of just some of the countless issues:
• Blatant Lies from Day One: We were told our flight to Rhodes was delayed due to “bad weather.” This was false. We checked and found more than 10 other flights had landed with no problem. It became clear they were stalling to combine groups from Germany, Manchester, and London.
• Missing First Day & Meal: Our first day – including dinner – was simply scrapped with no explanation or compensation.
• Disrespectful Tour Leaders: Rude and dismissive, especially towards elderly passengers. We were constantly rushed, spoken down to, and treated with zero respect.
• Discriminatory Treatment: German travellers were accommodated in a proper 5-star hotel (Rhodes Palace Hotel), while the British and Irish passengers were dumped in a rundown 2-star resort (All Senses Nautica Blue Resort & Spa). The contrast was so blatant it felt racist.
• Itinerary Manipulation: The planned sightseeing was cut short to make time for stops at overpriced factories (carpets, leather, jewellery), where passengers were pressured to buy. This was clearly arranged for commission.
• Forced Tipping: Tour leaders demanded tips in advance and publicly shamed those who didn’t pay.
• Appalling Hotel Conditions:
o No water pressure or hot water
o Isolated location, far from the city
o No WiFi in rooms
o Unclean rooms with unchanged sheets
o Only two teenagers managing housekeeping
o No lift access, awful food, poor hygiene
• No Medical Support: When someone needed urgent medicine, we were told to walk for an hour – no help, no transport.
• Chaotic Check-In: In Rhodes, they failed to organise group check-in, leaving 200 elderly passengers queuing in the rain while staff scrambled with our passports.
• Shuttle Scam: We were told to pay €12 per person for a shuttle that only operated for two days out of seven.
• Overpriced Excursions: Sightseeing tours and boat trips sold for €60-€70, which were available locally for €20-€30.
• RSD Disowned Their Own Tour: When we requested a meeting in Rhodes, the local rep claimed he wasn’t even affiliated with RSD and proceeded to rant about his own health issues before yelling at us.
• False Advertising – The ‘5-Star’ Resort:
o In reality, a tired 2-star resort
o One hour from town
o Cold indoor pool with no changing rooms
o €25 fee to use the sauna and showers
o No seafood, barely edible food
o No international standards whatsoever
• Hidden Charges:
o Council tax of €105 (€15 per night)
o Advanced payment of £270 for food – we later discovered the hotel charges only around €50 per night including food
o Hotel manager confirmed he never received this money – where did it go?
• Health & Safety Concerns: Unsafe facilities, no proper staff, constant complaints ignored.
• No RSD Support: Promises of daily reps on-site were false. No support, no help, no interest.
• Fake Compensation Scheme: When people complain, they’re given a £500 voucher – a trap to push you into booking another holiday and spending more money.
In Summary:
This was not a luxury or cultural holiday. It was a bait-and-switch operation, designed to extract as much money as possible while delivering the bare minimum – if that. We were lied to, manipulated, overcharged, and mistreated throughout.
We have collected extensive evidence (photos, videos, receipts, recordings) and will be submitting official complaints to UK and EU consumer protection bodies, as well as tourist boards and watchdogs.
DO NOT BOOK WITH RSD. They are not a travel company. They are a sales funnel disguised as a tour operator. If I could give zero stars, I would. They deserve public investigation, not customers.

Cappadocia, Don’t recommend this company They lie to get your money

Im still away and now at my so called 5 star hotel. If you have any bookings please see my review

This is my first RSD trip and my last. If it looks too good to be true it is. Our 5 star hotel is equivalent to a possible 3 star in the Canary Islands

Too much time taken to factories, friends cafe and pressure to buy. Hours spent in carpet factory and jewellery factory. Guide suggested as we had been hand picked to be able to come on the tour so he would like us to spend £1,000 shopping!

Sightseeing definitely not top of the agenda. This is why I came here

After being told if we paid all inclusive package for 2nd week the guide would try his hardest to get sea view rooms ….

Also told the hotel was remote so everyone took on the all inclusive package. This is not the case. We are on a main road leading to alanya with shops, supermarkets and restaurants. Yet another lie to get us to part with our money

Turns out this was never true. RSD travellers in my group were always going to be given land view, and road, views.

Complete rip off in my opinion

In fact it is SO BAD I’ve booked a flight and taxi home…

RSD Cultural Tour of Rajasthan, India

In April 2024, we joined a cultural tour of Rajasthan state in India. This started in Delhi and then proceeded anticlockwise, visiting Bikaner, Jodhpur, Ranakpur, Udaipur, Jaipur and Agra, before returning to Delhi. Over the course of some 2500km, our group were given a fascinating insight into the history and culture of Rajasthan. Apart from visiting six World Heritage Sites, which in themselves were spectacular, our guide Devendra Singh Sandhu was able to bring his unique knowledge and expertise for the area, to all of us. His in depth knowledge of all aspects of life in Rajasthan proved to be very informative and he proved to be a very entertaining leader for the group. We were impressed by his ability to adapt to local challenges such as the Indian elections and religious holidays which could have impacted on our trip, but in the event he was able to take in his stride. We would recommend both this trip and our guide without reservation.

Cultural tour of India - What an amazing experience from start to finish

We booked for the 12 day cultural tour of Rajasthan, India. What an amazing experience from start to finish. Every sense and emotion were left tingling following each day's itinerary whether we were visiting temples, palaces, forts, Haveli's or travelling to the next city. Our guide Devendra Singh Sandhu (Romi) was extremely informative, knowledgeable and passionate about his Country. This was telling in the information he relayed to us on our long journeys between cities. He has so much patience and a great sense of humour. Our driver, Vikas, was brilliant, navigating the traffic, the mountain roads and keeping his calm and together with Raj/Ravi (our co-driver was ever ready with his step and hand sanitiser at each and every stop we had), they made a perfect team. We have seen so much on this holiday, rode an elephant to the Amber fort, camel ride to the dessert for a cultural evening, tuc tuc ride, the list goes on. Even the visits to the textile, jewellery, carpet shops were not as pressurised as on previous tours. I cannot praise this tour enough, it is exhausting with the many hotels and traveling but totally worth every minute.

Cultural tour to the Golden Triangle

Our trip to the Golden Triangle in India in April 2024 was a wonderful experience, helped in no small measure by our wonderful guide Devendra Singh Sandhu (Romi to us) - he was very knowledgeable and the information he gave before each site visit was interesting and just the right amount, nothing was too much trouble; right from the start when he met us at Delhi airport, we felt confident that he would make the trip a success. We also loved his sense of humour which made the trip fun too. Our driver, Vikas, was incredible and he negotiated the manic Indian roads with confidence and expertise. Both were ably assisted by Raj who made sure our we got in and out of the coach safely and hygienically. Altogether a wonderful trip.

RSD Cultural Tour of India - from UK

From 10th April until 23 April, our cultural tour of the Golden Triangle area of India - starting from Delhi - was really amazing and fascinating. The places we visited had some wonderful palaces, temples, forts and monuments that were in the Rajasthan area of India. We were surprised at how well the centuries old buildings were preserved, and how opulent the country must have been over the hundreds of years that these places were originally created. Our guide, Devendra Singh Sandhu, was an excellent person to tell us about all of the history, and what we needed to know every step of our wonderful trip. His knowledge, as well as his patience and humour through the two week journey made our visit so enjoyable and we had a good group of people on our coach party. There is no criticism to make at all, it was all so much enjoyed by my husband and I. We would not hesitate to recommend this cultural trip and our guide to future travellers to India.

Northern India April 2024

Northern India April 2024. Great trip. Our guide Devendra singh Sandhu was excellent. He ensured we were well advised about all aspects of the trip including coffee stops, lunch, journey times, and all the amazing places we visited, all with charm, efficiency, and good humour. He achieved a good balance on trips between telling us about India and allowing time to enjoy the scenery and for chatting. His organisation of our luggage and hotel rooms was brilliant and made moving hotels straight forward. Ably assisted by the incredible driver Vikas and his assistant Raj. A great team and a great holiday.

Devendra Singh Sandhu

Just got back from a great holiday to Rajasthan from 10 to 23 April. I do have to commend the wonderful team who looked after us on this tour and in particular the fantastic guide Devendra Singh Sandhu. He was so knowledgeable, helpful and passionate about the region and culture and communicated this perfectly to us all. He was incredibly kind and unflappable when people had issues (one of us left his wallet in a restaurant, people were occasionally late or ill) and made us feel that nothing was too much trouble. We felt that he was completely on top of everything from warning us about hawkers and pickpockets to organising tips and tuk tuks and not least transportation of luggage to our rooms on our behalf so we didn’t have to worry about any of it. He is a complete asset to RSD! Also very prompt in communication, telling us he was available 24.7 for any problems. Indeed he was as my husband was ill one day and unable to attend a trip. All in all the perfect guide and I am sure he knew how much we appreciated him by the huge round of applause we gave him at the end! Alison Goff.

RSD offer a mind boggling service. Mine experience is based on the N Cyprus 8 day trip.
A) The outbound journey left Birmingham Airport at 12.40. After stopping at Manchester, a location in Turkey and landing in N Cyprus our coach arrived at our hotel around 10 hours later.
B) The two hotels were 'out of town' so choices of restaurants was limited to almost none other than by taxi.
C) The 'dinner' package of £99 for seven evenings was more expensive than if we had paid the hotel direct.
D) The tour schedule was compressed so that an extra day's trip could be enjoyed; at a further £58. It is my belief that a good profit was made on this and again the cost was well in excess of the 'retail' price of the excursion.
E) The itinerary included a trip to a 'Free-zone' carpet store as well as a jewellery store and a leather sales outlet. I believe that each of these are rip off enterprises. (I am still trying to understand how I agreed to pay £6000 for a Turkish carpet that in the UK has been described as carpet made in Chine and valued at £600.) The carpet outlet has no website and the phone number given is an unanswered UK number. The address provided is a C/o address. Does this sound reputable to you? If not, why were we taken there?
F) Our journey home meant rising at 2am and departing at 3am. After flying back to Turkey and going through customs we then flew on to Birmingham arriving around 11am.
G) All of the fellow passengers to whom I spoke had been attracted to the package by way of a different magazine. The price we paid seem to vary.
H) If an RSD trip is looked at and compared with similar trips from other travel agents then it can be good value if only the basic package is taken. Accept the 'extras' at your risk. Go shopping in the 'tour' outlets at your peril.
I) If you are happy with a holiday where there is constant pressure to spend that little bit extra then this may be acceptable.
