Senior Degree Audits

If you are a student who has earned 90 credits hours or more towards your major, each fall and spring your advisor will complete a senior degree audit to help you with registration for the next semester.

Please read through the audit before your registration time ticket opens.

If you have any questions or concerns about your senior audit, please make an appointment with your RCHSS advisor. 

If you have not met with an advisor in the last 6 - 9 months, it is time for a degree "check up" to ensure you are on track and to review your senior audit.

Please see below for our Frequently Asked Questions:

  • A Senior Degree Audit is an academic progress review completed by your advisor each Fall and Spring semester once you reach 90 credit hours or more. It lists how many semesters you have until graduation, as well as the courses you would have to take each semester in order to graduate. Your advisor may also include important instructions such as petitioning to graduate, senior capstone requirements, etc.
  • Our advising team wants to give our students the best possible help in order to support them in their efforts to graduate. We want to help students with registration by giving them a road map of the classes they need. Additionally, we want to give them a realistic graduation date and encourage them as they approach the end of their degree. Lastly, we want to proactively reach students who may have problems with pre-req sequences, petitioning to graduate, etc. to assist them and prevent issues that may jeopardize their timely graduation.

  • Please review your senior degree audit carefully to see how many semesters you have until graduation and which classes remain for your degree. 

    If your advisor has listed any action steps in the comments (e.g., petitioning to graduate), complete those steps as soon as possible.

    If you have any questions or concerns about your senior audit, please reach out to your advisor via email or schedule an appointment.

    You are not required to have an advising appointment, however if you have not seen an advisor in the last 6 - 9 months, it is strongly recommended you schedule an advising appointment to ensure you are on track to graduate.

  • No. The Registrar's Office has full-time graduation auditors that make sure your DegreeWorks is complete in order for your degree to be awarded. The Registrar's degree audit process begins once you petition to graduate in OwlExpress the semester before you graduate.

    Our senior degree audit is done through our office, the RCHSS Undergraduate Advising Center. Our audit process begins as soon as you reach 90 credit hours. Because of the earlier timeline, this can help catch problems and issues before you petition to graduate, when it may be too late.

    The degree audit completed by the Registrar's Office is the final authority regarding your degree completion.

  • If you have recently changed your major, it is possible that you are just starting your major classes in your degree program and are more than three semesters away from graduation. If you have completed two or less Area F Lower Division Courses, you will not receive a senior degree audit.

Next Steps for Accepted Transfer Students

Welcome to the Norman J. Radow College of Humanities and Social Sciences Undergraduate Advising Center at Kennesaw State University. We are so excited you have chosen Kennesaw State University and the College of Humanities and Social Sciences to complete your degree! Now, what next?

If you are attending an orientation session, please be sure to schedule an appointment with your advisor prior to your orientation. 

  • This will give you access to Owl Express, course registration and other campus resources. This is your online “one-stop shop” where several of your next steps can be completed. To get started, visit the UITS NetID page and select First-Time Users then follow the prompts.

  • Two-factor authentication is required and actively used by the University System of Georgia and member institutions, so all KSU students are required to set up MFA to access OwlExpress, your student email, and other services. View more information, as well as step-by-step guides on how to set it up under the "Documentation" tab.

  • This is one of the most important steps, so take action now!
    Schedule an appointment with an academic advisor in your major before attending orientation or registering for classes. You can schedule an appointment online through our website. 

    Bring unofficial copies of your transcripts and any AP/IB/CLEP test scores. Write down your questions and bring them to your advising session.
    You will discuss the following with your advisor:

    • How credits from your previous college/university will transfer into KSU (including core courses)
    • How your credits from your previous college/university will fit into your new curriculum at KSU
    • Remaining courses to complete your degree at KSU
    • Prerequisite courses that can cause registration challenges
    • Placement tests, if applicable
    • Advisor contact information in case you have future questions

    Other information such as:

    • What to expect from orientation
    • Student success strategies
    • Student organizations and how to get involved on campus
    • Study abroad opportunities
    • Internship opportunities or requirements
    • How to use Owl Express, Schedule Builder, and DegreeWorks
    • Registration process at KSU
    • How to contact financial aid
    • Answers to any other questions you may have!

    If your transfer credits are not applying to your KSU degree in the way you expected:

    Contact your advisor if you feel you have already taken a required class, but it did not transfer in that way. Your advisor will guide you in how to submit the request for a course evaluation or substitution. The process may vary depending on which department teaches the course. Ultimately is up to each department to determine if a course is equivalent to what we teach at KSU.

    You may need to provide a syllabus for your prior course showing:

    • Topics covered each week
    • Required text(s) and name of author(s)
    • Assignments/tests used and grading methods 

  • You can sign up for orientation through your OwlExpress account. You can visit the Orientation website for more information on fees, check-in and parking, scheduling and a checklist of what to bring to your orientation.

    Your time ticket will open during your orientation session, so it is important you sign up as soon as possible.

  • View information on what forms are needed after your acceptance to KSU.

    We also encourage you to get in touch with our International Student and Scholar Services department to learn what resources they offer and to ask them any questions you may have about transitioning to KSU.

  • Unresolved holds will halt your ability to add/drop classes and register for future semesters.Turn in your immunization form to the Office of the Registrar and satisfy your lawful presence verification at the Office of Undergraduate Admissions or online.

  • The office of Financial Aid provides assistance for students to help them meet the costs of obtaining an education from KSU.

    Meet with a financial aid counselor to discuss your options and receive assistance with completing your FAFSA application at fafsa.gov.

    Visit kennesaw.edu/financial-aid/ for helpful tips and videos you can reference when completing your FAFSA. You must apply for the HOPE Scholarship by either completing the FAFSA or the application on GAfutures.org

    Please note that the Office of Student Financial Aid is not currently open for walk-ins.

    Counselors are assigned by the first letter of your last name. Please note, there are times when your assigned counselor may change to manage office needs. Schedule an appointment with your assigned financial aid counselor. When emailing your counselor, please email using your KSU email address and include your KSU ID number.

  • At KSU, only one application is required to be considered for all available scholarships and the application opens each fall. To apply, the application can be accessed through Owl Express, located under the Financial Aid tab or visit kennesaw.edu/financial-aid/scholarships/ to apply!

    Please note that first-year students majoring in Marietta Campus-based programs must live on the Marietta Campus as part of the first-year, live-on requirement.

    How to Use Class Schedule Builder:

    On Orientation day, your academic advisor will be available to answer any questions and help with registration issues. 

  • Visit the Registrar’s website and view the academic calendar for important dates such as the start of the semester, last day to withdraw, school breaks, registration dates for next semester, and final exams. Make sure you create a calendar or use a planner to stay on top of these dates.

  • The days prior to the start of classes, print off your class schedule, to confirm the following:

    • Registered courses
    • Meeting days/times/location for each class
    • Course format (i.e. face-to-face, hybrid, or fully online)
    • Review the campus map or do a practice walk-thru so you know how to get to your classes on the first day(s)
