Are you serious, Bluehost? Do you guys run your infrastructure like it's still 2010?
It's 2025 and somehow my website is being blocked from ChatGPT and other AI crawlers. The very tools that are shaping the future of how people find content online. This isn’t just annoying, it’s a joke.
I already fixed this once after wasting time with support. A Bluehost rep told me:
"Thank you for being on hold. I have checked and confirm that the AI crawler and the robots.txt file was both listed on ModSecurity, I have successfully whitelisted them, It may take up to 2 hours for the whitelist to complete"
And yeah, it worked. For a few days.
Now it’s happening again. ChatGPT bots can't access my site, which means no visibility, no AI traffic, nothing.
Why the hell is this even a problem in 2025?
You seriously haven’t figured out that AI bots are a legitimate traffic source now? Why are they blocked by default? Why doesn’t your “fix” stick?
It’s beyond ridiculous that I have to keep contacting support.

They stated that they will block GPT and other AI LLMs that can get you traffic, because "we do not support AI crawlers in our shared environment", so you need to give around $600 extra for a VPS... which is insane... I already give around $400 for the "shared experiment"...
Beware of BlueHost.. You will have a non-functional website on their hosting...

Log in issues:
I had not accessed my account in several months and when I did my username and password appeared to be invalid. I tried multiple times to log in with my credentials but was eventually locked out. I even tried changing my password, but then was told my user ID was invalid. I contacted support and chatted with Preritha. She was able to resolve my issue in a matter of moments, hassle free. Great service and I'm able to get back to my sites.

Great support today. The agent quickly activated my domain , initiated the WordPress install, and helped resolve a redirect issue. Communication was polite and efficient, and I was kept updated at each step. One suggestion: make the WordPress install tool easier to find and clarify DNS/propagation messages to avoid confusion. Overall, smooth experience—thank you!

I’ve been a Bluehost customer for over 4 years, spending around $2000 annually. Unfortunately, the quality of their service has dropped significantly.
Recently, I purchased a VPS from them, but the IP address they provided was already blacklisted. When I contacted support to get it changed, they refused to help.
It’s also clear that most of their current support staff are not technically trained, which makes solving even simple issues frustrating.
After years of loyalty, I’m very disappointed and can no longer recommend Bluehost. There are many other hosting companies offering far better performance and customer service — I suggest choosing one of them instead.

Based on the reviews I was thrilled to save money with Bluehost. But after 3 years with a crappy email app and frequently had it go down (blank page) because they updated plugins and support libraries for wordpress support that broke my site, I was planning to cancel the service and move to another host. But before I could I got caught in an auto-renewal with no way to get out of it and was charged $486.71 (nearly triple what I originally paid) and when I called to try to cancel was told sorry. Ouch. I'd rather be robbed at gunpoint on the street. I usually only have $100 in my purse.
