this is just a message to Paypal about their idiotic system design. I used to have 2 telephone numbers, a mobile and a landline. Since moving house I no longer have a landline number. But in the design of their system there is no option to remove this obsolete phone number from my account. This means that after 20 years of using Paypal without a problem they are now introducing an inherent flaw into my data which could result in me losing my account, because if I lose my mobile number and they try to use the obsolete number to verify my account it will obviously fail. It's MY data, if I need to change it I have the right to change it! I do not have 2 telephone numbers any more. You also lose more stars because there is no customer service, so I have to write here.

PayPal is a very uncomfortable Company to deal with.

Worst User Experience when resetting password
Forgot my password and tried to reset it. I don't use Paypal a lot but this one( and hopefully last) I had to.
I have a new phone number, so SMS-verification code is not an option for me. I have the answer to the security question and access to my e-mail. However I must choose between phone and verification via ID for the 2nd step of the verification.
The software for scanning the ID is so bad that it is impossible to take a clear picture of my drivers license. The camera works fine on my phone, the camera app can take very clear pictures of my ID, but Paypal's software cannot. So that method failed. I tried this several times to try and get a good picture, but without success.
I call their costumer service, and I can confirm everything about my identity except the last 4 digits of the bank account I previously had in a my former bank about 10 years ago. Shame on me for not remembering that information, right?! Tough luck is the message from costumer service, I have to write an email to them and request for my account to be closed and make a new.
I look through my old papers and find a possible 4 last digits for a previous account number. Call costumer service again and reach a much more helpful person, who helps me correct my phone number. Tells me I have to wait 10-20 minutes and then I can reset my password. After 30 min I cannot reset password because "they have trouble confirming my identity". Call costumer service again, and employee tells me I now have to wait 72 hours because I tried to reset too many times.
While I appreciate the high level of security, this situation is a joke. Costumer service were mostly helpful, but only after the 2nd and 3rd call, and they gave me varying information on my options.
Paypal - get the verification by ID to work properly, what you have now is an embarresment, and very frustrating for your members.
All in all one of the worst and most frustrating experiences I have had as a consumer. This company has made their security measures which protects them most, without considering what is most secure and usable for their costumers.

What the hell has happened to PayPal ??! I used to always feel reassured using PayPal but not anymore !!! You can’t ring and speak to a human anymore it’s all automated !!! So you can. Get ripped off and conned and they don’t do anything about it !! I’ve been charged over 200 for a bath that I’ve never received !! Yet PayPal after a month are still looking at it !! The company don’t even respond to you so why aren’t PayPal acting on it ? Useless now don’t be reassured by using pay pal as it’s not the same anymore !!!!

I was scammed by a seller
I was scammed by a seller. What I ordered I never got. Contracted PayPal gave them evidence that I got scammed, they took the sellers side and refused my claim. I no longer trust PayPal. I've come to the conclusion that PayPal actually gets my refund from the seller and keeps it. Don't trust PayPal ,everyone should close their accounts so PayPal can't take your money anymore .
They don’t even deserve the one star
Absolutely disaster and useless.
I bought a 300 euro product, which ended up being a fake product. I requested a refund through PayPal and as a first instance, they ask you to try to reach to an agreement with the seller through their chat. I did so, I complained to the seller and after some messages exchanged, we agreed I would send back the product and he would refund the money. I only did this because I thought PayPal was protecting this agreement (since they push you to agree on something before they interfere). Of course, the guy is a scammer, he didn’t refund the money although I sent the product back. After I escalated the situation through PayPal, they close the case in favor of the scammer/seller.
I made a complain with PayPal for the fourth time today, pointing that they push the clients into this “agreements” but then they don’t take any responsibility in the situation or ensure the client’s protection. In which way is PayPal protecting the client when all of the sudden I have no product or money? The response I got this time was “the problem is with the seller and PayPal has no responsibility in this”. Then they should not ask people to solve the situation themselves.
Note: I even paid a buyer’s protection fee to PayPal to be protected in this case.
My advice, don’t get a PayPal account, there is absolute no profit from having a PayPal since not even in the most obvious cases, they ensure fare transactions.

Would give zero if it let me. Created an account to be paid for some online surveys and a work from home site. Did every step it says necessary and even a couple it didn't. Have verified account. Get emails from them my find are there to claim. Follow it into paypal, login, says my account is ready to go and still says the funds are there to claim, click on summary linkwhere they are supposed to be there to claim and nothing. The other reviews about customer service being nonexistent are accurate. These people are basically stealing people's money and nothing is ever resolved. No different than a criminal organization at this point in my opinion.

I sent countless messages with proof and spent 1.5hours on the phone, only to be offered a meaningless €50 voucher instead of having the illegal charge reversed. Support ignored the issue even after I sent countless screenshots as proof and sent me in circles. Outrageous.
PayPal Resolution centre black hole.
Normally I have few complaints about PayPal but recently had a dispute over a transaction so escalated it to the resolution centre, had email saying they were reviewing the case but no other emails.
when i went to check the status of the case it was closed in the sellers favour, there was no way to appeal on their site form even after a search of google saying there should be.

The most difficult part is to follow up the customer service and no email nor phone number to contact.

Withdraw money doesn't work
Withdraw money (Transfer money to my own bank account) function doesn't work since 2 days and they can not provide solution, nor a time when it will work again. They are sitting on my money and I can not have access to it. We make 150K€ annual sales on PayPal, this is insane.
Another Chinese Rip-off
A foreign (China) vendor (Substantials) failed to deliver over $90 worth of merchandise. I used the vendor's PayPal option, believing that if there was a problem, PayPal would make good on the transaction. Wrong! PayPal denied my claim based on the vendor's tracking information that the merchandise was delivered. Neither the vendor nor PayPal could produce a U.S. delivery service tracking number indicating there was a delivery. They based their information on a foreign tracking system, not used when making a delivery within the U.S. Numerous Trustpilot reviews of this vendor indicate that no deliveries were ever made of their ordered merchandise. Why the so-called "investigators" at PayPal could deny such a claim based on flimsy evidence provided by the vendor can only be described as incompetence. Won't be using PayPal any further because the protection they allegedly boast about seems nonexistent.

Nearly two weeks since my refund for £23.75 was agreed. Thieving scumbags still sitting on this tiny amount. Greedy American company must be failing if its this desperate to hang on to tiny amounts. I referred a friend on July 27th we did everything step by step and guess what a month later I'm still fighting to get 20 dollars!!! I've been a long time user of paypal and until this I've had very few problems, so naturally I was surprised to be getting treated like this, they keep hanging up on me after 20 minutes of waiting or transfer me to 4 different people then hang up on me, email me and never respond to me after a month the only thing I haven't seen is my money I can't believe it, they want u to bring them clientele but then screw you so heads up paypal sucks
