Lack of Follow Through
I was charged by a well-known supplier despite having no active subscriptions or recent purchases with them. I reached out to the supplier twice, and both times they confirmed they had not billed me for any products or services.
I disputed the charge with PayPal, expecting a thorough investigation. Instead, they focused solely on verifying my IP address and confirming that autopay was enabled for the supplier. They never verified whether the charge actually originated from the supplier or a fraudulent source. I even provided PayPal with an email from the supplier explicitly stating they had not charged me—but PayPal continued to scrutinize me rather than investigate the legitimacy of the charge.
After a frustrating week of back-and-forth, with no indication that PayPal had taken steps to verify the source of the transaction, I decided to close my account to prevent further unauthorized charges. Their lack of transparency and unwillingness to investigate the actual origin of the charge was deeply disappointing.
I will never use PayPal again and will make sure others are aware of my experience.

Your absurd policies and unnecessary barriers caused someone to lose a job opportunity at Jollibee because they couldn't receive $55 in time to buy their uniform. This person has anemia, can't afford medication, and desperately needed that job to support themselves through honest work - not charity, but WORK.
I did EVERYTHING you asked - verified my card, called support, waited on hold, confirmed my identity. The recipient also called from the Philippines. Yet you held the money and told us we'd have to wait 21 DAYS. By the time we canceled, it was too late - the job opportunity was gone.
When I sent the money through your website, there was NO option for Friends & Family. Your support in the Philippines told the recipient I should have sent it as "Goods and Services," but when I made the transfer, NEITHER option appeared - not Friends & Family, not Goods and Services. Your own system didn't give me the choices you claim should have been there.
Your "security system" didn't protect anyone - it blocked real, urgent help from reaching someone trying to work their way out of poverty. They lost their chance at dignity and employment because of your broken system.
I will never use PayPal again for international transfers.

I am now £230 out of pocket through using PayPal, if I used my bank I would of been fully protected and been able to do a charge back. I have photo evidance and a letter from my landlord proving a delivery was left outside, yet PAYPAL, closed my claim with me at a loss....unbelievable...KLARNA all the way from now on!

PayPal’s customer service is extremely disappointing and unprofessional. Calls are often answered by representatives from various parts of the world, many of whom clearly have no idea how to help.
For business accounts, the experience is a disaster — slow support and unclear guidance. For personal use, it’s frustrating, with unnecessary extra charges appearing without explanation. Overall, PayPal causes more hassle than convenience.
PayPay -is no "Pal" but a useless platform
I used PayPal to make three payments for a drone purchase linked to Alibaba. One refund was “approved” but the money never arrived in my bank account (FNB, South Africa). Another case was closed without any explanation, and the third refund has been dragging on since 27 August — PayPal keeps asking for the same documents I already submitted, then limits my login access. Their support is impossible to reach and no one takes ownership. Absolutely shocking service for handling fraud or scams.

As already said, many consumers report issues related to payments, noting unexpected charges and difficulties in disabling recurring payments and I can support this. To me Paypal are only interested in money received from the selers "bugger" the purchasers. I will never use them again.
Excellent support — PayPal protected me when a company refused a refund
I recently had an issue with a company that refused to refund me after I cancelled a service on the same day of purchase. The merchant insisted on unfair terms, but PayPal stepped in and reviewed all the evidence I provided.
Their Resolution Centre process was clear, professional, and fair. Within a short time, PayPal found in my favour and refunded me in full.
It’s reassuring to know that PayPal genuinely protects its users when things go wrong. I’m very grateful for their help and efficiency, this experience has reinforced my trust in using PayPal for all online payments.

Paypal is SUCH a scam - I filed claim after getting counterfeit stuff - shipped back and provided tracking and they find in favor or seller. transaction PP-R-RMM-592185017. This is 100% fraud so you need to file claim on your credit card NOT with Paypal they are not totally legit

Very unreliable. It's possible for scammers to create a PayPal account and scam you. But if you send a legal donation to someone they don't approve of, you can be banned and lose access to your money. I consider PayPal a scam. They've amassed far too much power. I think there should be more payment options besides credit card or PayPal.

Don't use PayPal!!! I am a small business owner and worked hard for months to got my first order. Guess what? The moment I confirmed the payment, they limited my account and asked for "more information" to recheck my account. The truth is, I've done all verification procedures and submitted all the necessary documents right after I opened the account. But still, I submitted the information they need in time, then they permanently restricted my accounts in 20 mins. No one reviewed my information or account, they just banned my account for no reason. I tried to contact their customer service for help, they just don't listen or explain what happened. When I ask what lead to this restriction, they just say: I can't tell you this, I can't tell you that... Come on! You are the customer service, you are supposed to answer questions not pissed your user off! Later, I tried to call again, but it didn't help at all, No matter what I ask, thay just say: I can't tell you!
And they asked me to wait one month for a final decision. I am so angry! I did nothing wrong and the products I sell are just ordinary accessories. Till now, I still want to ask "why?" But deep inside, I know there won't be a answer, after all, all you can get from them is "I can't tell you!!!"
PayPal Customer Service Rated Zero – Avoid Using for Travel Payments
I used PayPal to pay for my holiday car hire in Spain through the EasyJet car rental platform, which actively promotes PayPal as a payment method. Unfortunately, the Spanish car rental company never received the payment from PayPal, and I had no choice but to pay again using my credit card to get the car.
When I contacted PayPal, their customer service was completely unhelpful. Instead of resolving the issue, they advised me to seek alternative solutions outside PayPal. This is unacceptable — customers should be protected, not dismissed.
Based on my experience, I strongly advise others not to use PayPal for travel or car hire payments. There is no guarantee that your payment will reach the supplier, and if something goes wrong, PayPal offers no real support. It seems they are more interested in protecting their partners than their customers.
Not a reliable for business
They will offer you all the services your small business needs for handling payments. You’ll be able to activate your account without any issues. You’ll provide them with all your personal and company legal information — nothing will be left hidden. You’ll start selling successfully, everything will seem great… until the moment your account balance exceeds $100. Then, without any explanation, they’ll lock your account.
That’s exactly what they do. There have been weeks and months of discussions, support communications, and email exchanges, and in the end, they simply told me they cannot provide a reason for the suspension. They confirmed that the issue is not related to my legal documents or any missing information — they just “considered my account risky.” And for that reason alone, they held my money for 120 days. For no valid reason.
After I appealed, my account was briefly unlocked for 24 hours, allowing me to withdraw my funds. During that short window, my clients placed new orders — and immediately after, my account was suspended again, once more without explanation. Following the second suspension, PayPal even had the audacity to contact my bank and request that the last transferred funds be reversed. They had no right to do that — it’s pure scare tactics.
You don’t need this headache, trust me.
If you have a small business, don’t even consider PayPal as an option. Stay away — or be prepared to wait half a year to access your legally earned money.

Using PayPal for my small business has been one of the most frustrating and damaging experiences I encountered. If I could give zero stars, I would. I cannot recommend strongly enough that other business owners avoid this platform at all costs.
Recently, without any warning, notification, or reason, PayPal deactivated my account. Even worse, they took it upon themselves to return multiple legitimate payments from my clients. I wasn't notified by PayPal at all; I only found out because my customer was confused. The fact that a payment processor can decline incoming money and not even send an automated email is absolutely unacceptable and unprofessional.
When I tried to resolve this critical issue, I was met with a complete brick wall. Their customer service is non-existent.
This failure by PayPal has directly cost my business money and has wasted hours of my time trying to fix their mistake and professionally manage the situation with my client.
A payment platform's most basic function is to reliably process payments. PayPal failed spectacularly and caused significant harm to my business operations. I move to a more reliable service immediately.

I Was trying to open a PayPal account for the first time, I ended up with a permanent limitation, reason given a suspicious activity on my account,Had even seeked help from their customer service and uploaded my ID card but was of no use.Is this how they treat customers. Absolutely disgraceful
Absolutely disgraceful customer service. My account was hacked, all my details were changed, and money was stolen — yet somehow their system decided the payment was authorized even though the detail change was unauthorized. Make that make sense.
Getting through their ridiculous AI prompts was a nightmare, and when I finally reached actual people, not one of them had a clue what they were doing. Nobody took responsibility, nobody could give a straight answer, and the whole process was an absolute joke.
This company clearly doesn’t care about its customers’ security or their time. Beyond unacceptable — utterly pathetic service.
