PayPal Wrongly Deactivated Our Verified UK Business Account.
We are a verified UK business (Valkyrie Group Ltd) operating legitimately from the United Kingdom. Our account had passed multiple successful verifications with valid ID, company registration, and business information — yet PayPal suddenly decided to permanently deactivate it without any clear reason.
The notice claimed the account was created by “an underage person or a resident of a country where PayPal doesn’t offer services,” which is completely incorrect. My ID was always marked as “Submitted” and accepted in every verification request, confirming that PayPal had already verified my age and identity as an adult UK business director.
It’s disappointing to see a platform of this scale make such an obvious mistake that disrupts legitimate merchants who rely on it to operate. We hope PayPal’s compliance team will review this error and restore fairness to genuine UK businesses.
If I could give -0 I would
If I could give -0 I would. 10 years I've been with them, but not much used for a money transfers (In or Out's ). I opened small shop, got first order, £15.00 PayPal took some fee, £14.67 left for me and now is the nightmare... PayPal deactivated my account and hold my money, so I can't transfer it, because they have "Based on the information we have at this time, this account was created by an underage person or by a resident of a country where we don’t accept customers yet" So 10 years everything was fine with my account and as soon as the money gets into PayPal account they have issues. What a joke. Two days on phone with them for over an hour and all they say we need to review this matter and it can take up to 120 day. What? Is this even legal? I don't think so.
I bought a boxed brick build (like…
I bought a boxed brick build (like Lego) it looked lovely on the website beautiful box, showing everything in the box in individual bags (as expected), also showing a instruction manual with some pages and a video of the manual being flipped through. I paid $56 which is around £42.
This hadn’t arrived after 6 weeks so I contacted the seller who apologised and said they would send me another as this had been with the courier for 21 days. However 2 days later they said I had to wait for delivery.
The item arrived 2 days short of 9 weeks.
The item was a brown box not a beautiful printed box, upon opening, the pieces were lumped together in bubble wrap in no order at all. The manual was a single sheet of A4 paper with a roughly drawn picture of the finished item.
My daughter who is a DT teacher told me I had received 3D Printed pieces.
The box said there were 1012 pieces, I only received 134 pieces as most of the sections were already whole.
I tried to get the seller to accept a return but after 11 emails they offered me a refund of $4 and refused to supply a return address. Their webpage said 100% return process guaranteed. Clearly not.
So I opened a PayPal case and after sending in photos of what I should have received against what I did receive they found in the sellers favour. The reason they gave was it was similar to the order. I have just spoken to PayPal and asked if I ordered a pair of jeans and received a pair of leggings would that be ok as they were similar in the fact they fit on legs. PayPal said I had to claim from the customer or return to the customer. I asked for the customers return address and they said contact the customer, I explained I had done this lots of times but they wouldn’t give me a return address, surely that’s a claim in itself.
PayPal has offered me a £20 voucher, however I cannot use this to reduce my PayPal balance I have to buy something. Are they serious?? I will be removing my PayPal account in a few days.
Be warned guys
I've been a PayPal customer for years…
I've been a PayPal customer for years but this time they have failed miserably and will be closing my account. They have lenders liability when one of their merchants rips customers off but instead they take their side and just close our case without allowing me to respond to their findings. Not happy and will be closing my account once I pay them off.
Are PayPal short of money
Are PayPal short of money? Do they need a loan? They keep finding new excuses to hold on to my company money. Firstly it was because I had sold too much in the month. Then it was send PODs for customers. Then it was provide two pieces of information (one for a company that was closed 2 years ago ad that PayPal has no record of) and then it was back to a 3 day review-----that was 6 days ago. We have grown quickly and PayPal seems to get confused by that but withholding payments is not a great way to help a small family business in a tough market. Now, the cream on the cake--nobody in PayPal can give me updates and it could take up to 35 days to resolve and to quote their agent "these things have a way of eventually sorting themselves out". We are trusting these people with our money, careers and businesses! Enough is enough now!
Don't use PayPal if you're a small business
Don't use PayPal if you're a small business!!!
Using PayPal for my small business has been one of the most frustrating and damaging experiences I encountered. If I could give zero stars, I would. I cannot recommend strongly enough that other business owners avoid this platform at all costs.
Recently, without any warning, notification, or reason, PayPal deactivated my account. Even worse, they took it upon themselves to return multiple legitimate payments from my clients. I wasn't notified by PayPal at all; I only found out because my customer was confused. The fact that a payment processor can decline incoming money and not even send an automated email is absolutely unacceptable and unprofessional.
When I tried to resolve this critical issue, I was met with a complete brick wall. Their customer service is non-existent.
This failure by PayPal has directly cost my business money and has wasted hours of my time trying to fix their mistake and professionally manage the situation with my client.
A payment platform's most basic function is to reliably process payments. PayPal failed spectacularly and caused significant harm to my business operations. I move to a more reliable service immediately.
I could not get help.
I could not get help to find out why a regular payment had been blocked. Usually, it works smoothly, but if there's a problem, it's impossible to speak to someone for help.
Extremely disappointed – PayPal Buyer Protection is meaningless
I’ve been trying to resolve a simple issue for over two months – I paid £25 for an item that was never delivered to my address.
I provided clear photo evidence and even a message from the courier confirming the parcel went to a different building.
Despite all of this, PayPal repeatedly sided with the seller and closed my case without properly reviewing my evidence.
Their so-called Buyer Protection feels completely useless if they can’t handle clear cases of non-delivery.
PayPal used to be a trusted payment platform, but now it seems they protect sellers more than buyers.
I will be reconsidering using PayPal in the future — and I strongly advise others to think twice before relying on their “protection”.
Better off using traditional debit and…
Better off using traditional debit and credit cards. They frequently ignore UK consumer law and are a disgrace the way they conduct themselves.
PayPal Customer with unblemished record has credit rating damaged badly by PayPal inefficiency!
I have been a customer of PayPal for many years and have never missed a payment ever. Around 6 months ago, I was persuaded to open a PayPal Credit Account and somehow this was flagged as my preferred method of payment which is ridiculous for many items. However I never noticed this. Then I opened a PayPal Business Account as I was going to use the service for my online bookstore. Each month I would get random emails telling me what minimum payment to make on my PayPal credit, but I always paid off the balance to avoid high interest payments. This month, I got a notification that my Clear Score credit rating had a change on it - when I looked it up my rating had dropped by an incredible 103 points - I had never experienced a drop before and my rating was always approaching 900. I investigated and found that PayPal Credit had logged with TransUnion that I had missed a payment and therefore marked me as a risk when my credit account had several thousand pounds available on it - as I never received an email I had no idea what had transpired so I wrote to PayPal demanding an explanation and telling them that they had damaged my credibility which crossed a line for me so I asked for my Credit Account to be closed after I got refunds due in of around £300 to my account. I also told them I wanted to close my Business Account and anything else I had with them because I am not prepared to have my blemish-free reputation tarnished by their inability to correspond efficiently. I have got absolutely nowhere and they keep ignoring my instructions. What a bloody shambles. I am furious with them but they seem oblivious to the fact they should put the record straight with TransUnion! I can't wait for my credits to come in so that I can get rid of them and would advise anyone NOT to enter a credit account with them as they are clearly not reliable and the customer service is crap. Really crap!
Terrible Experience
I sold tickets via Twickets. Despite my tickets being sold after checks put in place by Twickets I was informed that I have to wait 21 days for my money from PayPal.
I then complained and the money was paid to me. I understand that buyers have to be protected but surely if Twickets have processes in place why does PayPal add another layer? Unless they make money from holding on to my money?
The complaints procedure is abysmal
PayPal will not refund me
It's been weeks since money was taken from my PayPal account by Cartpanda in an unauthorised manner. They have taken over £600 pounds sterling from my account with PayPal. My bank has recognised unlawful activity on my account and has shut down my Visa credit account and issued me with a new card.
PayPal, on the other hand, has decided that the unlawful extraction of monies from my PayPal account is okay!! Their website is almost impossible to navigate. It's shocking that the process to have my money refunded is being dragged out in the hope that I will become exhausted...
My bank got my money back for me, but PayPal haven't bothered.
So it seems it's ok for Cartpanda to just take money from your account at will. Who has integrity these days - certainly not either cartpanda or PayPal.
GIVE ME BACK MY MONEY YOU SOULLESS PEOPLE.
Absolutely awful! Do not use Paypal Credit
Absolutely awful!! Purchased a phone from Honor UK via paypal credit 5 weeks ago. The phone has gone missing in transit (never made it to the DPD secure pick up point despite the driver scanning it as though it had). After getting no help from Honor I reached out to paypal, thinking I would be protected since I used their credit. How wrong I was!! They basically said since Honor could provide them with a tracking number which shows it was left at the collection point I am now liable for payments! Absolutely disgusting and a breach of FCA regulations. I will never use paypal again. They made no attempt to review the situation and instead will be stealing hundreds of pounds from me for goods I havent received and never will
Took 3 payments instead of 2, got my account closed.
Recently PayPal took 3 payments from my bank account for payment to Ladbrokes when they should have only taken 2.
Due to this I have had to spend hell of a long time trying to explain this to PayPal, yet they can't see this, even though I sent them a copy of my bank account.
They finally reversed one of the chargers, big due to this, Ladbrokes shut my account.
Trying to speak with them is terrible, first you can't get to a human, then when you do, they just keep repeating themselves all the time, even after you provide them with clear evidence of what you are saying, they even acknowledged it, but still said that they had only taken 2 payments.
This company is an absolute joke when something goes wrong.
PayPal lost my money they received by Direct Debit?!!!!
I’ve used PayPal for 15 years and had Direct debit with them for 10 years or so.
About 1.5 months ago I purchased goods using PayPal but not all of them were delivered and the seller refunded for those undelivered. Nothing suspicious except refund which should have taken 3 days (and shows as complete on PayPal account) apparently is not going to reach my bank because PayPal claims they never received the original direct debit payment!!! It’s been going on for over 3 weeks, I sent them a letter from my bank, my bank statement showing another 11 transactions they received since via the same direct debit and all I hear is they don’t have the original payment! they eventually opened the case and sent it for review and I have to wait for a resolution ..I’m in a state of shock: this huge financial institution I’ve trusted for so many years with a direct debit has lost my money and now keeping my funds from refund ?
PayPal the group of Scammers
PayPal the group of Scammers!
I was using PayPal for years, but it appears that they became scammers!
I bought the product, returned it back as it was not as described to seller, and PayPal just resolved the case in seller favour.. they declining to reopen the case, and chargeback for returned items.
Despite I am willing to provide prove of postage..
Reason?? Because PayPal didn't tell me to return item to seller!! 🤷
Good advice - don't use them again!
I used PayPal Pay in 3 to buy glasses
I used PayPal Pay in 3 to buy glasses. The seller sent me the wrong item twice, admitted fault and confirmed in writing that a full refund was already processed without requiring a return. I uploaded screenshots of this proof to PayPal.
Instead of protecting me, PayPal’s system forced me into a “return item” workflow, demanding I pay international tracked postage to California at my own expense. This contradicts both the seller’s written promise and UK consumer law, which makes the seller responsible for return costs when goods are not as described.
When I tried to escalate, PayPal cut me off multiple times on the phone and refused to connect me to a manager. I’ve now had to submit a formal complaint under FCA rules and will escalate to the Financial Ombudsman Service if necessary. Meanwhile, PayPal is still trying to collect the final Pay in 3 instalment despite the unresolved refund.
PayPal Buyer Protection is worthless if they side with sellers, force customers to pay unreasonable return costs, and ignore clear written proof. Extremely poor service and I will reconsider ever using PayPal again.
AVOID THEY ALLOW CROOKED SITES TO CHEAT CUSTOMERS
This supposedly respectable company actually aids fraudsters to cheat buyers by having a dispute system that allows crooked sellers to get away with cheating buyers out of their cash
Charged unfairly and unexplained
Used Paypal to pay for an activity which was great. I have 6months to repay in full but also have the option to pay small amounts to reduce the amount. Decided to pay a little bit but PayPal did not deduct that amount from my account straightaway after that I went out to do shopping which leads to them trying to collect that amount but my account did not have enough fund. A few days later, I was shocked to find that the money owed has increased and there is a charge under other. Contacted customer service to explain but they were helpless, left me waiting on the line for 30 minutesand then they hang up on me. They did not explain what has happened and the app did not allow me to sent messages (Built in help centre ) to initiate a conversation. Very disappointed and will never use it again. Do not recommend to anyone.
