I’ve been with policy expert since moving here 8 years ago and although the only dealings I have with them is renewing my policy, I have no complaints and they are very easy to deal with even for me. Very polite and amenable when I ring
This company have always come up trumps when asked about home insurance. They are by far very fair and have a great range of deals available for all buyers.
We have been with Policy expert for our house insurance since 2018 and have continued to renew with them as they have not increased our payments by ridiculous amounts. We have good cover and believe we get great value and peace of mind.

Yesterday (Sat), my vehicle was involved in an accident on the M25, resulting in damage to the front bumper and bonnet. I immediately logged the incident on your web portal and was contacted by a company called Call Assist, who informed me that a recovery company named Automania would be sent to assist.
Shortly afterwards, Automania arrived and asked where the car should be towed. I advised them to tow the vehicle either to the Policy Expert approved repairer since I’m going to make a claim or, if that was not possible, to my private driveway. However, they claimed they did not have Policy Expert’s garage information and then refused to tow the vehicle to my private driveway, citing “public safety concerns.” I was pressured into agreeing that the vehicle be towed to Automania’s storage facility instead.
Later, I received another call from Call Assist informing me that I must pay for three days of storage at Automania, as the breakdown assistance does not cover storage charges. This was completely unexpected, and I was repeatedly pressured to make payment, despite my comprehensive policy and the fact that the storage was not my choice.
I then attempted to contact the Policy Expert claims hotline, but it was unavailable outside office hours. I eventually reached the so-called “urgent out-of-hours claim service”, which turned out to be yet another third-party provider with no access to my policy information. They simply took down the same details already recorded in my policy, stated they would pass the information to the main team, and advised me to call again on Monday. They provided no practical assistance whatsoever.
In summary, I have discovered the following serious issues:
1. I was pressured by subcontractors to pay for storage that I neither requested nor authorised.
2. The breakdown and claims process appears to be heavily outsourced and fragmented across multiple third parties: Policy Expert → Policy Expert Breakdown → Call Assist → Automania, with minimal coordination or accountability.
3. There was no effective support during out-of-hours emergencies, despite Policy Expert claiming to offer 24/7 claims assistance.
4. There was no clear responsibility among the involved parties regarding the handling, storage, and claim process of my vehicle.
I purchased a comprehensive insurance policy with the expectation that Policy Expert would manage the process professionally and take responsibility for all authorised subcontractors. Instead, I was left stranded on the motorway, confused about who was in charge, and forced to negotiate with multiple third parties demanding payment.
