Meine 55000 € blieben dann eben in meiner Tasche.
Fazit, keine Reservierung, keine Beratung, kein Service, kein Verkauf.
DO NOT USE!!!!!
DO NOT USE CarMax in Thames Ditton Surrey!!!!!
They are absolutely crap! Went to view and test drive a car. Everything seemed to go to plan when at the dealership with finance all sorted.
We asked for the car to be delivered on Friday. They didnt keep me informed and i had to chase them several times when they just kept saying the delivery is delayed. They were supposed to deliver the car today between 10 and 2pm however when I called at 13.45 they advise it would be 16.30. As you can imagine I was furious and asked for a refund of the delivery charge, which they did immediately then cancelled the sale with no explanation... terrible company with even worse customer service!
Unethical Business at a HIGH LEVEL
Went to pick up my 2021 4runner and the said the windshield was chipped. They said they would have auto lite exchange the windshield. They said it would be the next day. When I got home the manager Steven called and said they found a bad painting spot when it was touched up and could sale it to me, due to their standards. They kept it on the website for sale. Then they moved it to the Gastonia business where it is posted.
I purchased a vehicle from this company…
I purchased a vehicle from this company and they are not good people, they sell (s) cars with problems;;and they don’t honor the warranty that they sell people, dirty inside and has many problems already
CarMax has significant quality issues
Purchased a vehicle from CarMax in Utah. The vehicle had issues before I even tested it and I showed the sales person ( broken light mount, inoperable parking assist and an error being shown on the dash for a locking motor. I was told all of these could be fixed by CarMax, they even submitted the work order before I purchased the vehicle. It takes 2 weeks to get the car into their shop to fix things. In between, I took the car to a certified Jaguar mechanic and they did a pre purchase inspection. Found all the above and a few minor items. Took it back for the work order to find out that CarMax would only fix teh lock motor. They said they the other 2 items, found and documented prior to purchase, were broken by the shop performing the inspection. One, that is crazy and secondly, they HAD to have known they were broken if they had actually performed their "120 point inspection". Its been in the shop so long that they had to give me a loaner car. This one had a check engine light come on 2 days after receiving it and it is now throwing a error with the transmission. I really don't think they do much to prep their cars or make them of any quality. They are a used car but it shouldn't die once you pick it up. 1 month later and they still have my car.
Purchased a 2024 Wrangler from here
Purchased a 2024 Wrangler from here, financed, walked out the door, and then a week later, they come back and call me telling me that my down payment did not go through. It was a CHECK, and it was cashed. My bank said it's cashed, and cannot be returned yet the claim that it was returned and the balance needed to be paid or they would reposes the car. I am still dealing with these issues and they are still saying they will take it back or send me to collections or reverse the deal (everyone says a different version of what will happen)
Any dealer on your local airline highway would be more ethical
I am trying to refinance our car loan and spent 4 hours being shuttled around the Carmax before I got exactly where I started: nowhere. I'm not interested in doing business with CarMax ever again. Their New Orleans sales team will do pretty much anything to shoehorn you into one of their air-tight company focused deals. FIrst time they told us they would transfer our insurance to the new car. Both of us heard them say it. We didn't learn otherwise until the car was towed for no insurance a month later. Innocent mistake? Maybe. But despite the cost of a tow, we foolishly bought there again a few years later. This time they sold us a car that we later learned had a secondary engine in it. When our mechanic discovered it, Carmax told us that they didn't have a duty to disclose because it was the same size engine, so it didn't matter. Didn't matter? It's fraud! No wonder CarMax's stock price has dropped 50% in a year, and their sales are down. They're struggling to move inventory because they're overpriced and their no-haggle pricing model is outdated.
Kunden abziehen!! Fake!! Nepp! Lasst die Finger davon!!!!
I bought a used SUV from CarMax…
I bought a used SUV from CarMax Albuquerque in 2023. They told me that one part of the car had been repaired. After about a year, that same area started cracking, chipping, and rusting. I have not had any accidents or new damage since buying the car. I emailed CarMax for help, but no one replied. I am very disappointed and hope they fix this problem.
Uninspected vehicles, compromising the saftey of consumers.
Every problem listed is on the claimed 125-point inspection. Here is a list:
1. Seven unsafe cars
2. Car #1-bad suspension
3. Car #2-bad suspension. I got a call from an elderly man who bought the car a week later and found my number on the paperwork left in the car. He took it to his mechanic and the suspension had to be replaced. Carmax was aware of the problems and they sold it again anyway.
4. Car #3- Bad brakes, bad suspension, electrical malfunctions, bad turbo assembly, bad wipers, no fluid, dirty cabin filter, dirty air filter, coolant not serviced. It was taken to Carmax and they pad-slapped the brakes and used substandard turbo parts. I contacted them immediately but I was ignored. The car has sat in the driveway for over a month and taken to a different mechanic today.
5. Car #4- owned 3 months. Taken in for grease leaking from both front wheels. Carmax only replaced the boots, knowing that the joints were compromised. They even wrote on the invoice that the axles needed to be replaced, but they put me behind the wheel anyway. I took it to a mechanic. The brakes, struts, shocks, and cv joints were all bad.
6. Car #5-the loaner they put me in had a low tire. I asked them to check it and they sent me on my way. I had a blowout the next day.
7. Car #6-the second loaner they put me in had a low tire. They checked it and sent me on my way. I had to put air in the tire every single time I drove it. It lost 36lbs of air between uses.
Car #4: I was in the process of returning it due to so many issues. Another driver ran a red light and totaled the car. Although I had GAP insurance, the car is worth $6000 less than what I paid for it 3 months ago, leaving me with paying for a car that was never safe to drive in the first place, which had bad struts, bad brakes, bad shocks, and bad cv joints. Carmax claims that the problem was resolved. The car being totaled does not erase the fact that they failed to inspect the car, failed to repair the car, and knowingly let me drive away in a comprised vehicle.
Additionally, Carmax disclosed one recall on this car. Following the incomplete repairs, the invoice stated that there were two recalls, They claim that the issue is resolved. On the contrary.
Both cars have sat in the driveway or have been in for repairs longer than they have been driven. My experiences have proven that Carmax does not inspect vehicles, putting drivers in unsafe situations. If it happens to one person 7 times, it happens to others.
These cars were financed through Carmax. After replacing the first car, Carmax raised my interest rate for the second car.
I have not been compensated for the costs of a ride service I was forced to use due to interoperability of newly purchased cars.
It has been a nightmare. Finances aside, the concern lies within the safety of customers who purchase from this business.
CARMAX - THE BEST
Don't bother looking anywhere else if you are looking to sell your car. Straight up they offered the best price! I tried to get offers from other companies but was short changed (maybe as a woman who knows)
STICK WITH CARMAX - excellent all round!
CarMax Misrepresented the Vehicle and Refused Accountability
I purchased a car from CarMax after their employees explicitly told me it had no accident history. That statement was false and misleading. When I went to sell the car, I discovered that the DMV had recorded an accident on the vehicle a full year before I bought it.
This misrepresentation cost me a $3,000 in lost value, verified by an auto broker who showed me recent comparable sales of nearly identical vehicles. When I raised this issue with CarMax, they refused to accept any responsibility or compensate me for any of the loss in value.
CarMax heavily markets “peace of mind” and “transparency,” but my experience shows those claims are hollow. If their employees can misrepresent a car’s history and the company refuses to make it right, then buyers cannot trust the accuracy of anything they’re told.
Furthermore, do not rely on the CarMax vehicle inspection to uncover previous damage that would have been discoverable by a competent mechanic. Be certain to complete an independent pre-purchase inspection using a competent mechanic.
CarMax misrepresented the vehicle I purchased, and their refusal to stand behind their word shows a lack of integrity. Buyers beware—you could be left with a car worth thousands less than you were led to believe.
If you are looking for a Great Used car…
If you are looking for a Great Used car make sure you go to CarMax to check out their cars. I shopped for weeks looking for a specific car, even found multiple cars from local dealers only to experience very poor sales people trying to trick me into losing too much money for my trade in vehicle. I was not familiar with CarMax and stumbled across their website by accident- HUGH WIN FOR ME! So so tired of dealing with sales people from other dealerships and will tell you anything to get you into their dealership and once there nothing they told you prior was true! CarMax does not have SALESPEOPLE trying to trick you into buying their car- the price they publish is the price you expect to pay - most often less than other dealers similar cars. And their cars are meticulously inspected and anything that needs repaired gets repaired prior to delivery to you. If you have a car to trade just go online, fill out your car information and get an immediate trade in value. Then stop by their office to let them validate their offer. Next steps are so easy it was amazing. A sales associate will take it from their- you hand over your car and they deliver your new car with them doing ALL THE PAPERWORK! I spent less than an hour with the entire process. I found the exact vehicle I was looking for- SO HAPPY WITH MY NEW CAR AND PURCHASING EXPERIENCE WITH CARMAX! I have owned my vehicle over a year now, absolutely love it more now than I did when I first purchased it. Definitely will buy my next vehicle IF/WHEN I’m ready for my next purchase.
Horrible
Horrible: Vehicle paid off 10 months early but Carmax does not send either the title or the release claiming they hold it unless funds clear when last payment was mad through ACH 10 days ago and ACH clears either immediately or in one day! They also sent a fabricated email to me stating that they had mailed me the title when they then admitted on a follow up phone call that they had not, were not and would not send the title to me.
Wow never again
Wow never again. They have a no haggle price, but it is high. On top of that they give you 20 percent less for your trade in based on KKB.
Very disappointed.
We’ve done business with Carmax many…
We’ve done business with Carmax many times over the last 20 years and purchased around 8 cars from them and sold them several as well. We should have done better research about the current state of the company before choosing to do business with them again. After our recent experience selling them a car last week we will never ever return to them as a customer. Every car we sold them in the past we have been paid out exactly what the online offer was so we had a background of trust. This time the offer was $5000 less based on ambiguous claims of hail damage and transmission issues. Yet no tangible evidence could be provided for these claims. We had also just had a 75K service done on the car end of July with a full diagnostic work up with zero evidence of transmission issues and no warning lights. We even provided the paperwork on this. The crazy thing is as I researched and read reviews I found several people who went through the same thing with claims of transmission issues and hail damage that could not be shown physically when customers asked for it to be pointed out. This seems like a calculated scam technique that comes from the top of Carmax. This company no longer acts with integrity, lies to customers, gaslights them and uses bait and switch tactics. Eventually this company will self destruct if they continue to do business this way.
Never buy a car from CarMax again
they gave me the run around. First they approved via prequalified. Second they came me an appraisal on my vehicle before seeing it. Then they wanted to give me 3000 less than what was offer. mind you I purchased vehicle from them. Vehicle was in good condition just a few cosmetics /where paint shipped on front bumper. i have so much to say.im overwhelm and disgusted with Carmax. Never ever will i buy/sell or go near a CarMax
Shipping takes weeks!
I began the process of purchasing a vehicle on 8/21. The car was located at a dealership five hours away, but I was assured it could be transferred to the dealership near me without issue. While I was given a delivery window of 8/25 - 8/30 I was advised that since the vehicle was only 5 hours away it should arrive in 2-3 days. Fast forward to today there is still no vehicle and I wasted ten days waiting for a car that CarMax cannot even confirm will be delivered any time soon. No one reached out to update me, no one explained the delay, and customer service had nothing useful to offer. Only when I called the local dealership myself did I learn the truth: CarMax uses independent shippers who will not move a vehicle until a truck is fully booked, which could take weeks. That should have been made clear up front, not after the fact. Buying a car should not turn into a drawn-out process that drags on for weeks with no communication, no certainty, and no respect for the customer’s time. CarMax failed not just in logistics, but in transparency, accountability, and consideration for me as a customer.
I am writing a review again as my 19…
I am writing a review again as my 19 year old son went into the San diego location on Balboa I left there in March went to range rover San diego & they accepted the same pay stubs the San diego location refused again it was the Mgr with ZERO people skills & he has ZERO TALENT ! That deal lost carmax $45k as I am salary plus commission & will make about $150k this yr . Now my 19 yr old son went to the San diego location with 703 credit score & when your Mgr with all the tattoos on his arms & the handle bar stache found out he was my son he said carmax can't do business with my son ? So he went to San diego auto finder behind your store and found a better Tesla , better apr , better price & was finance in 10 minutes ! Car max i thought you would want to know thats ( 2 ) deals for after fin fee of around $100k a range rover sport & Tesla that your Mgr cost you . All because your amateur Managers feelings were hurt because I was honest ... car max thats $100k in 2 deals & because he is a very sensitive alleged Mgr with zero people skills & zero talent he cost you 2 deals , I am certain there are others but he also called me & my son and was very aggressive unless he had 1 of his employees call us stating car max refuses to work with us .. A 19 year old kid car max ! Is this acceptable business behavior by 1 of your managers ? Thought you might want to know . Then the kicker is the Mgr or associate called my son to speak about me in a non positive way because I was allr approved to co sign > this is totally un acceptable car max ! Is this in your policies in any way to conduct yourselves like this ?
