Royal Mail, the nation’s “trusted” courier… what a joke. Apparently, I wasn’t home when they “attempted delivery” today. Interesting, since I was literally standing at my open front door watching... See more

Because this is the most outrageous experience I've experienced with royal mail.
I sent out a birthday gift to a friend who lives in the UK (in fact lives in london WITH ME) on the 27th September and payed for its 48 Tracked label to be printed and parcel collected from my house. It was on a saturday so I expect it to have some movement on the following monday or tuesday.
Tell me why for 2 whole weeks straight. It stayed at my local delivery office with no movement, No updates on why its staying there despite the fact I paid for it to be delivered around 2-3 working days. But thats not the worst part. I can understand delays can happen I'm not upset about that.
I'm upset, No I'm PO'd when two weeks passed, the person i sent the parcel to tells me royal mail gave them a "fee to pay" card, saying how "I" failed to pay the full postage for it to be delivered and was expected to pay an extra £3.50 on top of the £2.70 I already paid for. Which makes zero sense because I paid for the label, printed it myself and also paid for collection to my house. Waited two whole weeks for it to be delivered to a UK address which is in the same city only for it to get denyed deliver because it "wasn't fully paid"?
Are you kidding me? I phoned up customer support and was told it was due too two very stupid reasons:
1. The label fell off hense I had to pay for a new label. How is that my problem. If you waited two weeks when at that point its royal mail's problem not mine.
2. According to the operator on the phone, The prices for 48 tracked had increased AFTER I already paid for my label and had it sent out. Hense the increased price on the "fee to pay" card
So to summerize. I have to pay for the same label TWICE for a small parcel to an address WITHIN the UK for a mistake royal mail caused. Not only not taking any responsiblity but failed to communicate with me about the alleged delays within office but also failed to notify nor replace the label I already paid for and pin the costs on me instead of covering the costs themselves nor provid compensation for the inconvience, the hassle, the lack of awareness and also negligence of the parcel's postage nor the contents inside.
This is last time I'm using royal mail to send items. What makes this story even funnier is that I had a single letter. A normal letter sent out to the USA and it got delivered within the span of exactly 7 days. But the parcel I sent out the exact same time took double that and didn't even successfully get delivered to the recipent.
I was literally by my front door when…
I was literally by my front door when the door bell rang … took a second to answer … only to find that my delivery was being passed to my neighbour who just happened to be on the other side of the fence.
Talk about knock and run, it’s a joke !!!
Lying about delivery attempt
They lie about trying to deliver parcels. No attempted delivery was caught on any of my cameras, or door bell, but according to RM there was no answer. Why not reschedule a delivery rather than lie about it?
UNTRUSTWORTY AND UNRELIABLE AT GREAT EXPENSE
Paid for a signed for FIRST CLASS delivery item at £3.60 handed over at Post Office counter.
No notification as promised of it being delivered or received to this day, no further notifications on the Royal Mail website apart from acknowledging they had it after handing over at the Post Office counter on the day of posting. No further success in tracing it either.
A COMPLETE SCAM OF A SERVICE FROM A COMPANY WITH NO REPUTE OR ANYONE SHOULD TRUST IN not to mention the numerous cards and items sent that were never received.
Absolutely Useless Service
Royal Mail claimed they “attempted delivery” because my property was supposedly inaccessible — complete nonsense. I provided the door code and clear instructions to leave the parcel safely under the stairs if no one was home. They promised to redeliver the next working day, so I stayed in all day waiting — and of course, no one showed up. Not a single knock, no delivery attempt, nothing. The sheer lack of effort and reliability is shocking. Awful, lazy service that wastes people’s time.
The Royal Mail redirection service is a very poor and disappointing service
The Royal Mail redirection service is a waste of money they do not actually redirect your mail it’s an awful service in fact the whole of the system at Royal Mail has gone to the dogs I don’t think it’s worthy of the title ROYAL as I’m sure the king would be very disappointed in the service I have received from ROYAL mail. When you try and get in touch by telephone you are held for anything up to 1 hour to speak to someone,I have had to call FOUR TIMES and every time the adviser promises to escalate a complaint they give me a reference number and promise they will sort it,but nothing happens no communication to let you know what is going on you can’t even email them or the directors, I don’t know what is going on there but it seems like no one is bothered we had to go around to the old property and collect our mail which included important correspondence.i don’t have any faith in this service and hope no one has this experience but it’s not how I expect to be treated after paying for a service I haven’t even received so be aware if you are thinking of using this poor service.
A Joke
This was the lowest I could give but wanted to go lower 🤬🤬🤬
RM are responsible for decent sellers getting negative feedback because of their rubbish service... We will NOT buy off anyone who uses RM as their couriers.
They need to leave the delivery business because they are making the people suffer while the bosses collect their massive pay...
RM doesn't stand for Royal Mail but Rubbish Mail 😖☹️🤐🤬
Parcel left in unsafe place
My usual postwoman is great, but today she was was not at work. The stand in postman left my parcel in an unsafe place, even though there was easy access to my door, and the parcel would have easily fitted through the letterbox.
I rang the local sorting office, Barton-upon-Humber DN18 5RP, to complain, and all I got was a load of excuses, and the person talked so fast it was difficult to understand what he was saying. I asked for the telephone number for the area manager, which is a reasonable request, and was refused, he told me he was unable to provide such details. Then when I became irritated at his unwillingness to actually do anything about the situation, other than to 'talk to the postman about it ' - which would be pointless, as they are strenuously warned not to do things like this—under threat of dismissal— when they undergo their training, he hung up.
Clearly Royal Mail has too many people working for them that do not understand that people such as myself are the ones who pay their wages. I expected better than this from Royal Mail, who are paid to deliver my parcels to my door, not my garden or anywhere else. Laziness and unprofessional behavior such as this used to be a sacking offense, so clearly standards have dropped significantly.
Note to Royal Mail:
Unless you want to provide the area managers contact details, do not bother to reply to this review here, as nobody is interested in your excuses for failing to deliver as you are trained and expected, and to deal with legitimate complaints in an acceptable manner.
If you really want to make a response to this review, then ensure the problem never happens again. Very disappointing, as my usual postwoman would never have done this.
Hopeless
Hopeless. Paid to track an envelope which one month later still says in Transit. Made it though all the automated messages to be told it's 'still tavelling though our nextwork' - really? - it's not moved for the last month! Now waiting for 40 minutes to speak to someone because 'we're busier than normal' which is just lies to cover lack of human resourcing.
Poor service
Poor service
They allow letters that fit in letter boxes to go through
Mine fitted in a normal size letterbox but they state it was couple of cm too big and wouldn't deliver my card until the recpient paid extra £1.50...Royal Mail you should be ashamed ..
Horrible service
IT969746423GB I have been at home for two consecutive days, and during those two days, your courier was unable to deliver my order. I believe that employees should wear glasses! On the first day, I heard the doorbell ringing on the first floor, and a minute later, I received a text message about the delivery attempt (your employee did not even make it to the next floor). On the second day, there were no intercom calls or knocks on the door, and I received a text message about a delivery attempt (my phone was in my hand). I immediately ran outside, but there were no delivery vehicles in the area. I couldn't get through on the phone, and my email wasn't working!
10 days later
10 days later, my 24h posting is still sat doing nothing, "we accidentally delivered to pontefract duhhhh" my PARCEL WAS GOING LEEDS WTF.
Royal Mail uses the "If we annoy customer long enough, they'll just go away" technique, they want you listening to music on phone for hours to no avail....
Royal Mail
Royal Mail. Up the crick. A week matter I chased and conclude they replied with a link. It does not work. Waste of time and effort. Web site sale . But no information on complaint. To busy selling to deal with their incompetence and mistake.
How are they still in business...
How are they still in business? Posties not scanning items prior to delivery properly, the mobile app is barely functional, one day you can login, the next you can't due to an error. When you can login to their app, items are listed not in order of priority. In fact, some that were delivered weeks ago are still prioritised to the top of the list, instead of parcels due to be delivered that day or the next etc. You can submit a review on the PlayStore for Android, but they never reply to any comments.
And if you call their customer phone number UK - 03457740740 - which isn't found easily or at all on their official website (as most businesses do these days, because they don't want you to call them) and I had to Google it, ended up getting this number (03457 950 950), waited for 20 minutes to tell me that this line was for the businesses. To her credit, the lady I spoke with was pleasant and provided with the correct number for customers. Having called it now, it's saying they'll be over a 30 minute wait and no offer of a callback service in place. Just a short chirpy orchestral sample playing on repeat. Honestly, how do these companies stay afloat with their nonexistent customer service?
Every single time royal mail doesnt…
Every single time royal mail doesnt deliver my parcel. I was in when attempted delivery was apparently done, no one came to my door. I need my parcel for a wedding and royal mail need to get it sorted out instead of constantly lying about delievery its all the time its a joke.
A joke of a postage service!
The worst service ever! For a while now ive been noticing Royal Mail always delay parcels or dont send out letters for ages. This time ive got an important parcel that I ordered and should have been here in 2-3 days RM could not apparently scan the label so it was stuck at their mailing centre in Medway and now ive called them to track again (5 days after due) its now apparently all the way in Jubilee MC!! They haven't updated anything on the tracking and the advisors give you mixed reviews! The woman i spoke to yesterday said I should receive it by today at the latest and the man I spoke to today said its at Jubilee MC he cant give me more info and it will arrive at some point but he cant say when. Absolutely disgusting service and RM are a joke!
Terrible Service
Terrible service. I can't understand how and why Royal Mail are still functioning, given their continued overall losses.
I've arranged a re-redirection for one year. There's a tracked 48 hour parcel currently going to my old address, as I hadn't managed to change the address on my ebay account until today.
After reading the endless 'articles' to see if my query as to whether the parcel will be re-directed to my new home, I ended up with a phone number to call; 'at last', I thought.
I ring the number. There's a wait of over an hour to speak with someone. The real kicker - the automated message starts with 'We would like to thank you for showing kindness and consideration to our team as they do their very best to help you.' I'm a patient person by nature but I can really understand why people get completely fed up.
Royal Mail should be providing proper customer services with enough available human beings at the other end. That would be real 'kindness and consideration.'
Useless app
The Royal mail app is shockingly bad , it's never up to date , doesn't actually give any relevant information for the date and time, I've deleted parcels that have been delivered over 12 months ago and they still reappear??? I've done this several times and still they reappear, I deleted the app in the end, completely useless.
Repeated False 'Attempted Delivery'
Repeated False 'Attempted Delivery'
This is not the first time this has happened. Royal Mail and Parcel Force often mark their tracking as “attempted delivery” when in reality, no delivery attempt has been made. Sometimes they even claim the address is “inaccessible” when there are absolutely no access issues.
They also no longer leave missed delivery cards — likely because they never actually came to the door in the first place.
Most recently, the parcel I ordered was sent via the Express 24 service. I was given a specific delivery timeframe, but before that timeframe even began, the tracking showed “attempted delivery” — yet nobody came. I arranged a redelivery for the following day and received email confirmation, but again, there was no delivery and no update on the tracking.
Completely deceitful and inefficient service. It’s incredibly frustrating when parcels sent through a premium service are handled so poorly.
Terrible call center wait times and website navigation system
They direct you to their website or app to change the date of delivery, or to call.
I went to the website, however it tries to force you to download the app. So I called them as im not going to download an app for a single parcel instance.
I stay on the phone for 53 minutes waiting to speak to someone, before the line automatically drops the call as the call center closes at 18.30.
Abysmal service quality to prioritise going home over their customers already waiting to speak to someone over a simple request
