Wirkaufens review: Unfortunate transaction experience
Wirkaufens Review:
This review is based on my personal experience with Wirkaufens, a company I chose to sell my used electronics to. I was selling a Google Pixel 9 Pro XL with 256GB of storage, a device I had used for about one year. My reason for selling was straightforward: to upgrade to the new Pixel 10 Pro XL. My device was in impeccable condition, "like new" as I would describe it. It was in great condition, the display was perfect, and all functions, including the camera and video recording, were working flawlessly. I have photographic and video evidence to support the condition of the device before it was shipped.
The process began smoothly. I sent the device on September 3rd, and today, September 16th, I received an email with a paid invoice, seemingly confirming that the transaction was complete and the device had been accepted. This was a positive sign, suggesting a quick and straightforward process as advertised.
However, the situation took a perplexing and frustrating turn just an hour later. I received a second email, a rejection notice, stating that the device was being sent back to me. This contradicts the previous email, which indicated a successful transaction. The sudden reversal, without any clear explanation of the supposed defect or issue, is deeply concerning and frankly, unacceptable.
My primary concerns are:
Contradictory Communication: The fact that I received two completely different emails, one an hour after the other, is a major red flag. It suggests a lack of proper communication and quality control in their processing system.
Arbitrary Rejection: My device was in "like new" condition. I have photographic and video proof to back this up. The rejection email provides no justification for returning the device. This kind of arbitrary decision-making is exactly what sellers fear with these trade-in services.
Risk of Damage in Transit: My device is now being sent back. Based on other negative reviews I have read online, I am now worried that it will be returned in a damaged state, possibly with scratches or other issues that were not present when I shipped it. While I have my pre-shipment photos and videos, the burden of proof and the hassle of a dispute are now on me.
Loss of Value: This experience has not only been frustrating but also costly. By the time the device is returned to me, its value will have depreciated further. If I try to sell it to another company, they will offer me less money than what I was originally offered by Wirkaufens.
In conclusion, my experience with Wirkaufens has been a significant disappointment. What was initially a promising transaction has turned into a bureaucratic nightmare. The company's sudden and unexplained rejection of a "like new" device, despite an initial acceptance, is a testament to the risks involved in using their service.
I strongly recommend that anyone considering selling their device to Wirkaufens proceed with extreme caution. While they may have a reputation for being reliable, my recent experience suggests otherwise. This kind of "shenanigan" is unprofessional and has put me in a difficult position. I will only consider changing this one-star review if this issue is resolved swiftly and without further hassle, and I receive the amount that was initially agreed upon for my device.
Send in perfect condition, got it back with scratches
Send in a PS5 without any scratches. Wirkaufens team claimed that there are scratches and wanted to pay way less. Okay, so have the device send back then. What does Wirkaufens do? Just does not use the protective wrapping of the original packaging (which was put loosely in the box next to the PS5). Hence, the glossy plastic was in contact with the cardboard during shipping, got dull at the contact point and now the PS5 is not in perfect condition anymore. Very unprofessional! No reply back from customer service regarding this matter after more than a week. I used to have good experiences with this company. Very disappointing that this is over now :(
EDIT: Case was solved in an uncomplicated manner via customer support to my statifsfaction. Hence, rating changed from ** to **** Thank you wirkaufens!

empty box
On October 28, 2024, I sent an iPhone 14 Pro 256go for trade-in to asgoodasnew. (trade-in value of 662€)
On November 4, 2024, the package delivered empty at their warehouse in Frankfurt. As UPS was the carrier for the package, asgoodasnew is responsible for the shipment of the package (according to the French consumer law)
asgoodasnew asked me to send them the sworn statement, the product invoice, IMEI, and serial number of the iPhone sent. All documents have been transmitted.
Few days later, UPS is not following up on the claim and asking me to contact asgoodasnew. Today, Asgoodasnew no longer wants to hear about my concern and declined to compensate or refund me.
This is not legal. Under French law the seller is completely responsible for any delay, loss or damage to the package during transportation he has organised. In case of loss or damage, the seller will have to arrange a new delivery at his own cost or reimburse you. You may then complain to the delivery service.
Is this how you treat your customers?

MacBook (M1 2020)
I sold a MacBook (M1 2020). I had a protective cover over it since the day I bought it, and they say it has 'superficial scratches'. Total waste of time, I would suggest try some other websites.
Dishonest behavior
I sent my PS5 last week. I took extreme care of my device, which is a bit more than one year old.
The same day it arrived, back in 2023, I also applied a full vinyl-based cover that served to protect ALL surfaces, both the dark middle block of the PS and of both the side faces. This has been on from day 0 to the day when I shipped my device. Clearly, no scratches are possible if all surfaces are completely covered! The device never fell nor I moved it in a little bit more than one year!
Therefore, when I decided to send it to WIRKAUFENS, I chose the "as-new" option, in terms of optical conditions.
Now the surprise: the technical team inspected the device and there are scratches on it. When? Where? You cannot know. They do not provide pictures. You must trust them blindly. Even if I have a full video taken from multiple directions that show how there are absolutely no scratches.
So I write to the support. Just if they can kindly send a picture of the defect so that I can understand where it is. Other different services I used in the past do that, and have always been thorough and checked out with what I knew about the devices I sold. The answer? "Oh we process hundreds of devices every day, we cannot send pictures."
I understand that they have the power in this matter, you want to sell your device and they must make a maximum margin, so take it or leave it. But this is beyond acceptable. If you claim something, you must provide proof.
Stay away from here.

I was a bit sceptical reading some of the reviews, but decided to take a chance and send my phone. Received an email with a pdf document with the shipping label and instructions. After sending the package, I received a couple of update emails with status changes and not long after, received money in my account. Easy and smooth process. I'd use them again if the need arises in future.

A reliable partner if you want to sell phone
Very reliable and fast processing to get the money. Very easy steps to send the phone. They are reliable partners to sell things to them with a good and fair price
I am working with them since 7 years and always be satisfied.
Thief in the staff
I have sent them more than 15 phones (trying to make of this a side hustle) they pay you always less than your personal rating of the phone's condition. But that's not yet the worst part, the worst part is when you send an expensive phone for example ssamsung s22 ultra 256gb or 512gb or iphone 12 pro max 512gb, or etc, they steal the phone and report to you that they haven't received the phone! So you have to try your best to report that case to the police and dhl and get your self a lot of headaches... Best advice don't sell them expensive stuff because there is a thief in their staff! This happened 3 times with me! I advise you to find another company like cleverbuy or zoxs.
Worst service
Worst service. Show best price for your gadgets to get your attention and then undervalue it below market price once you send it. I don’t know why but only their technicians find scratches everywhere where even god can not find scratches. Either thei technician have eyes that can see 1000x zoom or we are fools to believe in their service. Never ever never ever use this service, if you want to save time, money, and want your new gadgets to be new and not sctrached by their technicians.
Alluring, but NOT worth it and they will not buy as what they claim
I was selling my iPhone 11 pro, the condition according to their website was "Gut" and the offer was ~510€.
Upon receiving the package and few delays of examination they informed me that the condition is not as good, because there are some dusts in the lenses (could be, but I definitely couldn't spot), the speaker is damaged (it wasn't, or maybe I'm deaf too) and there are multiple scratches and a also a borderline visibly big scratch on the display (the only truthful part, and that's why I labeled it as "Gut (3)" and not "Wie Neu (2)"), worth mentioning some scratches do fall under the category of Gut in their own definition on their website.
Nevertheless, their modified offer was 170€ after all of that, which is way less than what I could easily get for selling it off elsewhere, so I requested a return.
Upon return turns out it's their policy to destroy all other items, including the original packaging, the unused charging cable and the original documents that go with the phone!
After complaining via email they mentioned that it's my own fault for not reading the paper (it indeed is, superficially anyways), however how does that make sense to destroy perfectly new and unused components just because it's your policy 👎🏻?
On my part I had just acted on good faith and hadn't bothered to read every single item on the list because a friend who had tried to sell to this company before had it referred to me and it was 100% clear to me that they're definitely not a scam, turns out I should've been paranoid with them and there's a thing called "semi-scam" as well.
SCAM
SCAM! Device in perfect condition with power supply. The "technicians" couldn't figure out, if the supply works. So they offered 200 EUR less than initially. Really? Waiting for tem to return the device. Never ever!

Hello Sascha,
the power supply unit must not only be present and original, it must also be in usable condition.
Kind regards

I just charged my laptop with said charger with no problems. So aparently it works. Thanks for getting an answer, even if it's wrong....

Update about conflict case
update on 28 Feb
I contacted Customer Services via their website and was offered to send my iphone to them again for the "brand new" price as initially offer. It took more than 2 weeks with some back and fort emails but the payment came through and I got the money today.
So out of 4 cases I dealed with wirkaufein so far, 3 came throught without problem only this one resulted in a conflict. But because my device are always brand new, it's easier to claim with them when conflict happens.
So if you consider to do business with them, you need to calculate the risk of conflict as well.

sent an brand new and sealed iphone 13 mini to them. I have videos and pictures to prove it.
They opened it, activated Apple Guarantee and rated the iphone as “like new” (wie neu) and offered to pay me the “like new price” which is around 40€ less. I didn’t agree to that and received my phone back as opened and Guarantee activated which decreased the value of my phone.
The money is not that much but it damages my property which I take very seriously and might involve lawyer.
Only consider doing business with this company, if your insurance cover lawyer fees cause you might very well need that.

Scam company
As many others here, I sent a perfectly good computer imac to Wirkaufens that arrived damaged due to hermes and wirkaufens negligence. After 1 montgs of claims noone even gives me an update or takes responsability for this situation. Stay away from this company - its a scam! They destroy your property, dont pay what they promised and have no respect for the customer. Scam company in my experience.
