Extremely unethical billing practices — double charged for months and refused to refund

I’m deeply disappointed and frustrated with my experience with Liven. The company double-charged me for several months and then continued billing me after my subscription was canceled. When I brought this to their attention, I provided clear evidence—screenshots, payment records, and even the overlapping subscriptions listed under my account.
Despite this, Liven refused to refund the full amount they wrongfully charged, claiming their “policy” prevents them from refunding charges older than 30 days. In other words, they admitted to taking my money without consent for months, but still kept most of it because I didn’t notice soon enough.
This is an unethical and predatory business practice. Their response blamed “auto-renewal” despite clear evidence that two subscriptions were active under the same email, something no user would knowingly set up. They offered only one partial refund while keeping the rest of the overcharges—more than $270—which is unacceptable.
A legitimate company should refund money they were not entitled to, regardless of when the customer discovered it. Instead, Liven hid behind policy language and ignored their own system error.
Avoid this company. Their billing system is deceptive, and their customer service is dismissive and unethical.

To begin with, I want to reassure you that apart from initial full refund, our team has issued a full refund for two of your other most recent transactions, going beyond our standard refund policy. This decision was made to ensure that we approached your case with compassion and fairness, even though the situation involved overlapping memberships created separately within your account.

According to our internal system logs, two distinct memberships were created under your profile, in different time periods, each linked to a personalized plan that was manually set up. I completely understand how this could have caused confusion, especially if one of the older memberships was unintentionally overlooked, leading you to believe that you were double-charged. However, our system functions automatically, and every membership activation or renewal requires user confirmation. There is no possible way for us to create or charge for a membership without explicit consent from the account holder.

Regarding the cancellation, our records show that one of your memberships was successfully canceled in July, with no further charges or errors after that point. However, since the second membership remained active at that time, it continued under its regular renewal cycle. This is why the charges appeared to continue even after you believed your subscription had ended.

I completely understand how frustrating and unfair this must have felt, and I’m deeply sorry for the misunderstanding and distress this caused you. It’s never our intention to leave anyone feeling unheard or treated unfairly. We do not hide behind policies, instead, we uphold them to protect both our users and the integrity of our operations. When we make mistakes or when confusion arises, we take responsibility and work toward a fair resolution.

It is disheartening to know that this experience left you with such a negative impression of who we are. I sincerely wish you had reached out to us earlier so we could have clarified this sooner and prevented such a frustrating outcome. Your case, however, has reminded us that even with clear processes, communication and understanding matter most, and we’ll continue to evolve in that direction.

Lastly, I hope that the refund we’ve provided and this clarification help bring at least a small measure of trust and clarity back.
